Favre usually plays about quarter in the first two preseason games. Sometimes only a a series or two--depending on how well the offense does. Then, he usually plays into the third quarter in the third preseason game. The last preseason game he usually gets two or three series.

Favre had very little work in the 2005 preseason (yes. . . more in 2006) and that 2005 preseason really hurt the team. Aaron Rodgers was used far too much in the 2005 preseason games. Rodgers isn't the starter on our team. Favre easily surpass's him in that role. Favre needs that work in a more game like situation.Originally posted by PackfaceMaybe I'm not remembering clearly but....Originally posted by woodbuck27Brett Favre is on record saying that he wants more pre-season work than he's been getting the past two pre season's. To know who his go to guy's are.Originally posted by PackfaceWhat I would like to see this preseason is alot of Aaron Rodgers and little or no Brett Favre.
I say Start Aaron Rodgers and have him play at least 3 quarters for the first 3 games. 4th game start Favre and have Rodgers and the 3rd string finish.
Favre is far and away the best we have going for us on the 'O' to win this season, and he needs lots of work and to feel very comfortable leading up to Philly.
He needs to know what all the new offensive players can do with him behind center.
What else makes good or proper sense?
Didn't Favre play the entire first half of every preseason game last year?(or close to it)
Roethlesberger and Brees were done after the 1st or 2nd series in Sundays Preseason opener. Why is it that Favre can't learn who his offensive go-to guys are in practice against the 1st string defense?
Why not throw Arod into the water and see if he sinks or swims?
Favre prefers a lot of work and he certainly handles himself well against the rush. Aaron Rodgers hasn't demonstrated that ability to date in a real game situation. We don't need to know what Aaron Rodgers really has. Neither does the rest of the NFL. All we need fr. Rodgers is to demonstrate more development.
Favre will be watched carefully by MM for the number of throws he makes in preseason to bring his arm along properly. He needs the rep's to get his arm in shape and his timing down with our backfield, TE's and WR's.
Aaron Rodgers will get ample work after that first priority (Favre) is met.
We've seen that Aaron Rodgers hasn't looked good in the face of a rush. We have to protect him and still bring him along slowly.
To protect Rodgers and any real value we have in him, MM has to limit his action until he grows under the heat. He needs more easing in time for him to develop more and not to be thrown into the fire in a meaningless preseason game. As our backup he fills a vital role and we have to be careful not to expose him to too much possible adversity.** Since 2006 3 X Pro Pickem' Champion; 4 X Runner-Up and 3 X 3rd place.

Aaron Rodgers is merely our back-up now and why do we have to confirm anything more than that? Favre should be playing (at least) early into the second half. We need to establish some momentum with our offense only with our starting QB.

Maybe I was watching some other Family Night game. I wasn't impressed with Rodgers at all. He isn't reading the defense. He is still telegraphing his passes. He stared right at the guy he was going to throw the ball to every time. He has zero pocket presence. His arm looked better then it did in the past which isn't saying a lot. It was a scrimmage and the defense didn't exactly mix it up (nor did the offense). It isn't like he doesn't see that same defense every day in practice. If you ask me, he an Ingle Martin looked to be in the same boat. Martin was unimpressive mainly because he just looked lost. Rodgers looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
Is Rodgers better then last year? Not right now he isn't. Was he a bright spot and deserving of all of the hype? Nope, but there really wasn't much to see out there in regards to "great" plays. It was a scrimmage against themselves and it looked like it. So the media got out it's microscope and got all hyper over a mediocre performance from a backup QB. They should have spent more time breaking down Paul Thompson. He looked pretty good out there for his first time. He read the defense and he looked like he was fighting for a roster spot. Heart goes a long way and he definitely had it."Once the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic.”

I don't care when Rodgers takes over, ok well yes I do, I hope not for 2 more years yet, but WHEN he does, I hope at least some other competition is brought in for our starting job and it's not just handed to him. He was pretty much given the 2nd spot simply because of being a first round pick, IMO. I thought he should have been behind Nall, I don't think he earned the backup job yet at that point.
You also wonder, if Favre does play another 2 years, is TT going to resign Rodgers at that point. After all, he will be a FA. Will make for an interesting discussion, that's for sure.
