INTERESTING HOW DONALD DRIVER COMPARES TO THE TOP 50 WIDE RECEIVERS ALL TIME IN RECEPTIONS, RECEIVING YARDS, AND TD'S

He's not in any of the top 50....YET....but he might be closing in

    RECEPTIONS

    DRIVER ---421

    #20- Raymond Barry--631
    48. H Carmichael 590
    49. F Biletnikoff 589
    50. M Allen 587

THOUGHTS- Over the last three years Driver has averaged 87 receptions per year.....last year 92. If he goes at that rate for three more years he would be right around the top 20 all time

    RECEIVING YARDS

    DRIVER 5929 Yards

    10- Joiner--12,156
    47. M Carrier 8763
    48. J Stallworth 8723
    49. J Morton 8719
    50. *T Gonzalez 8710

THOUGHTS: Over the past three years Donald Driver has averaged about 1,224 yards per season. At that pace, three more very good seasons might put him in the top 50 all time.

    Driver 36

Over the past three years Driver has averaged just under 8 TD's per season.
As you can see there are a lot of players in the low 60's. If DD could play three more solid seasons averaging 8 TD's per year and then one more average year he would find himself in the top 50 range and probably in the 40's.

    BOTTOM LINE:

I think nearly everybody loves Donald Driver, especially Packer fans. He was certainly a late bloomer, but one who stays in incredible shape and his play does not seem to be falling off at all. If he can have four more stellar years, he will find himself on many of these all time lists........it would help if Favre hangs around longer IMO as well.

Could Donald Driver find himself in the Hall of Fame ? With 4-5 more years of numbers it is possible.

HOF? I think DD would get the Art Monk treatment. He was never a threat teams planned around etc. Which is a valid argument I think.

      Now PACKER HOF? First ballot!

I'd completely admit I don't think DD has Hall of Fame like talent. But never the less it was an interesting set of stats that outline the accomplishments of the rise of a late round draft pick.

I agree. Driver will be on the outside looking in unless we win a SB and he shines in it. If that happens, he has an outside shot.

It'll also depend on the ability of the guy after Favre to get him the ball.

Off topic, but if you take away the TD receptions Irvin had while getting away with Pass Interference by pushing off of the CB, he'd have about 30. :P

How many guys can high jump 7' 6" ? He's 6 feet tall.

How many guys can long jump over 25 feet? Triple jump over 51 feet?

He even participated in decathalon in college.

He is more athletic than most people realize.

At least DD should make the Packer HOF.

I didn't know this, but on NFL.com they stated that Donald led the NFL in yards after the catch last year.

Interesting; after some of the debate I've been paying more attention to Driver's drops and he does seem to have too many. Hopefully that improves.

I don't think he's a Hall of Famer, but these were interesting comparisons.

He will make the Packer Hall of Fame though

Absolutely. He could probably get in there now off what he's already done.
Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another.

                          BUMP for Bretsky.

As for comparison to Raymond Berry or Don Hutson, you cannot compare any counting stats to receivers who played before the rules changes of 1978. Everything about NFL offenses changed after that. It was the end of three yards and a cloud of dust.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

i've been predicting DD's demise for years, just because he has taken so many hard shots over the middle, and he's not all that big. But he takes a tickin and keeps on lickin.
