I wonder if the conference was called to announce an agreement that had been reached to trade Fergie, and then the other team (Houston?) came to its senses and backed out at the last minute, realizing that they were bidding against themselves. Would make sense given the Ferguson news that came out later in the day.

I picture Sherman hiding in a darkened room talking on the phone with TT, setting up a deal for Fergie (i.e. Fergie for Andre Johnson, straight up---similar to the Gado-Morency deal last year) when Kubiak (or whoever is the real decisionmaker down there) walks in and puts the kibosh on the whole thing ...
