Man, I sure wish I could have made it. I would have fit right I think....except for the Viking horns. I promise you I would have kicked ass at wii tennis and bowling and drank everyone under the table. Hmmmm, not exactly marketable skills.
I will take you up on that challenge. But please, skip the beer, lets roll with the hard shit.
Like 007 said, we worked it so that we knew when the game was the moment the official schedule came out. I will look up the thread.
Freak Out, what happened to you? I've seen you've posted since the game, but I didn't see you there. I was looking forward to meeting our Alaskan Rat.
I ended up having to go north for a couple of days and turned in my mileage ticket for Saturday, the Sunday flight direct to Chicago only had very expensive coach seats left so I bagged it. I really wanted to go out and party with you all on Saturday and am bummed that I missed the chance.
Did anyone end up buying tickets at game time from scalpers alley? There was a surprising number of tickets available on Sunday according to the ticket sites.
What we need to do for next year is book a hotel for a couple of different weekends and then when the schedule comes out, cancel whatever weekend you don't need the room for.
So, instead of planning the next years gathering for a certain game, we should plan a date and go from there.
I still would like to know who voted for the Bears game....ahem.
I would suggest setting next years game a couple days after schedule release. It HARD to find a hotel/motel room in GB!
.
Rask, we set the game this year the DAY the schedule came out. A couple days after is too late. I called hotels right after the schedule came out and 2 of them were full........hard to believe but true
It might be a good idea not to pick the Bear game next year. I have to believe that having thousands of Bear fans coming up for the game might make the hotel situation worse than it would be for some other games. Just a thought.

You know, I believe you guys. I think I waited a long time to try and book.

The hotel situation is tough no matter what. It's the tickets that are impossible to get for the Bears game. Heck, I'm thinking next year of renting floor space in my house not really, but there are people here who rent out their houses on game weekends and get like $1500 for it.
I found the threads from March/April in how the posters game was chosen. We ran polls for people to vote on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice for which game everyone wanted to attend based on opponent only and not date. Then ran a poll for which month people wanted to attend and Oct. won.
The results are in and the Bears are the #1 choice followed by the San Diego Chargers #2, Oakland Raiders #3, and Minnesota Vikings #4.
The polls are closed and the month chosen for the PackerRats poster game is October. The first HOME game from the four games that where voted for will be the Official PackerRats poster game.
So it was the fairest way to pick a game and was done that way so people could get on the telephone right away that day and reserve rooms.

That's what Tar and I did. It's how he ended up with that swanky suite. Cause if it were a different weekend, it could have been a very different hotel/motel.
The only problem with planning around a date is that we might hit an away game. That would suck. But October was a good idea for the month I think.
I'd love to know that myself. I hope all the people who voted for the Bears game actually showed up for the Bears game...

That is why I suggested booking a hotel two weekends in a row. When the schedule comes out, you cancel one weekend.
how does that work with the bye week? Our bye this year is week 7. Last year it was week 6. 2005 it was Week 6. 2004 it was Week 8. I'm not seeing any established pattern here!! It would suck if you guys booked two weekends of hotels, where one is the bye week and the other is an away game.
I think next year we do a November game. mad was bitching about the humidity, well I guarantee there will be none of that in Nov
