Herron was supposed to be out for 2-3 weeks and now they said he wouldn't be back until the bye week???? It was a knee scope for torn cartilage, I have had three of those and you ARE 100% in 2-3 weeks. You are walking by day 2 and running by day 4-5 and I had a shitty surgeon! With a knee brace you can definitely play the game by week 3. I suspect there is something else going on here, what I have no idea. Morency will have been out much longer then that by the time he hits the field and he isn't on IR and didn't have surgery.

I am glad to see White on the practice squad.

like i said yesterday on the thing about grant, i generally like the way tt does things, but sometimes it seems like he has to try to find the needle in the haystack just to look smart. maybe there's a great explanation for it, but give me a real fullback...
Who the hell does TT think he is? The arrogant bastard is signing guys who we haven't heard of. He should only sign guys we have heard of rather than relying on his scouting department to determine who is the best player. Think about it. Its the same crap that got us stuck with players like James Jones when we could have had guys we heard of.

When you draft 379 guys, someone should pan out. They have missed on as many players as they have hit on.

They found more damage in the knee during scope, he's on IR, out for season.

Herron was the third best back on the roster, and valuable in his third down role as a blocker and pass receiver. His loss weakens the team. They won't get a better player without a trade.

That said, maybe Wynn, or some other back will develop with playing time. The new guy from Giants sounds like Herron-lite.

But when you start with 379, that means you hit on 189.5. That's not too bad but you gotta feel for the half a guy...must've been a mercy pick.

i know normally i have very little quality input to contribute to forum discussion, but i have actually seen john kuhn play at shipp and he was decent. when he played there he got alot of carries actually and was a big offensive contributor.

If Wynn is on the roster, then I would disagree with White on the PS for an eternity. Wynn has shown nothing and White has shown a dimension we don't have right now that was productive.

we just have to agree to disagree. I thought White had less physical talent than the glimpse we got of Wynn. I don't think he could be productive against starters.

Do you know where you're going to...do you know?

Former Packers safety Marquand Manuel has signed with the Carolina Panthers, according to the Charlotte Observer.

The Tennessee Titans have signed former backup quarterback Ingle Martin to their practice squad.

Packers GM Ted Thompson said receiver Shaun Bodiford was claimed off waivers. The former Packers receiver/kick returner was awarded to the Washington Redskins.

I'm not so hot on either guy.

I'm guessing they want a veteran to fill in because of the retirement of Mike Minter.

Pretty solid summary. Herron knew what he was doing, he'll be missed in that regard. I'm not so sure Grant is no better than Herron though. I think Herron was a 4.6 guy and Grant is a 4.4 guy. Speed isn't everything, but Herron lacking it was a big part of the downfall in his game.

This is just an idea, something to bounce off the wall but I have a theory that I've developed as to why Grant might not have lived up to his physical abilities. The guys is 6'1", 218 lbs and he looks pretty cut. They say he is explosive and pretty good at everything. However, he did attend ND and he mantained a 4.0 thorugh HS and college. He may have been putting more work into school than the typical student althelte and now he's starting to maximize his potential. Just an idea, they said he looked much improved this off season after a year in an NFL setting. He could be a diamond in the rough, never know.

Is someone looking for a RB really going to be sifting through our refuse? It seems that if you were looking for a RB, there were some teams quite a bit deeper than us at that position that you might want to take a look at their practice squads first.

We might like White because we've seen him. But how many of the RBs on other team's practice squads have we seen? I'm pretty sure that at least somebody in each team's scouting dept has seen each of them.

Tony Fisher was better than Noah Herron as a third down back.

It was amazing the number of first downs on long 3rd down plays Fisher would get.
