I hear it on KFAN in the early morning, late morning, late afternoon, and evening. I can read it on RubeChat on the KFAN website. I used to hear it a lot from co-workers, family and friends also, but that's died down over the years. Now, it's begrudging respect for him. Still have people that call him Fav-rah--like it bothers me or something.

I KNEW you couldn't keep on topic. I wish the hell I could have put $1000 bucks on it. Damn. I was 100% sure and you delivered in spades. You tried to shift the discussion and change the topic as your usual MO. (I still think you're ok Harv).

I admit I was jealous of the guy years ago. If you think I am now you are sadly mistaken. Is he better than my teams guy right now? I just don't know. Let's chat after week 8. I'm guessing he matches up quite well.

By far. If your team had Favre, they'd probably be the favorites in the NFC North.

Could be, but I doubt it....Da Bears are clearly getting all the press for good reason.

Just OK? I thought we were buds.

I enjoy the hell of discussing these things with you. We are both passionate. We are both defensive. I do the same things you do here on the KFAN board... although not very often. You just like to call me out on my defensiveness more. The feelings you get when coming to this board are the same feelings I've been dealing with for the last 20 years. (Damn, 20 years since I moved here.) It's been a lot easier the last 15 years than it was the first 5 years. 1996 and 1997 had a lot to do with that.

Something interesting to consider. I guess we both are defensive. I still think you are more defensive...LOL....after thinking about all the debates, I think I'm sort of an idiot for saying that.....you may be right, although I don't throw the Packer card as fast as you throw the Viking card. Maybe that;s because last year, the Packers did indeed have the edge. Or maybe my math sucks.....

You kidding me? Did you not see that offense (by the Bears) in week 1? Pitiful.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, they were playing the Chargers.

They're clearly the team to beat in the NFC.

I didn't see Favre "barking" about all the hits he took from the Eagles.

And hell--I call him Fav-rah once in a while. That's supposed to be a dig? Whoops!

I never saw it as a dig, it's how our QBs distant ancestors pronounced their/his name. How is it a dig?

Well, I never thought of it as a dig either, but I guess I can see where it's a subtle sign of disrespect if said in a particular tone of voice---to intentionally mispronounce somebody's name as if they're not improtant enough for people to know the correct pronunciation.

It's the kind of funny, because from what I understand, everyone mispronounces Favre's name anyway, including me. I know I remember hearing years ago that the "v" is supposed to be silent. Yet you always hear it pronounced like "Farve".

                        Manning's Murky Status

The reports on Eli Manning's shoulder injury continue to contradict themselves and make his status nearly impossible to decipher.

Early this week, most New York-based media outlets were consistent in reporting that Manning was day-to-day with a shoulder sprain and had a chance to play in Week 2. On the other hand, ESPN and NFL Network were just as consistent in reporting that Manning had a separated shoulder that will keep him sidelined for multiple games.

Slowly but surely various newspapers are beginning to lean more towards the ESPN/NFL Network version of Manning's status. According to the New York Daily News, team physician Dr. Russell Warren and Dr. James Andrews have both given Manning a 3-4 week recovery timetable. As the newspaper offered Thursday: "That seems to confirm a report that has been running all week on ESPN, despite vehement denials from" the Giants.

The newspaper also quotes an unnamed team source as saying, "I'm hearing conflicting things. I don't know what to believe anymore." At best, it sounds like Manning will be a game-time decision for a tough matchup against the Packers' underrated pass defense. At worst, he's out for at least one week and the Giants are doing their best to conceal his true status. Whatever the case, the one thing that's clear is that you'll want to prepare for a different QB1 option in Week 2.

While the Daily News points out that the Giants insisted on calling Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, and Michael Strahan "day-to-day" before they missed huge chunks of last season with major injuries,
