Barnett played ok... even took proper angles most of the time - hell has, in fact, frozen over.

As Leaper and others have correctly pointed out, he's benefitting from the improved DL play. Also, in watching tape of the game, Hawk was doing a lot of the dirty work, i.e. taking on the pulling G, maintaining outside leverage, etc, while Barnett was free to run to the ball.

To his credit, Barnett didn't screw anything up... I'll never like him, but as long as he keeps his mouth shut, and doesn't start up with the samarai crap, I'll ignore his presence on the field, and hopefully remain blissfully unaware that he's on my beloved team.

This is SILLY! Driver does his shimmy all the time and signals a first down on many of his catches. Big deal! Get over it. I like the Samarai Shake.

What people forget about Barnett is that he was a fish out of water coming into the NFL. He was a converted safety in college, which in college may not mean much but in the NFL, the skills combined meant a lot. He was thrust into the starting MLB role and performed adequately his rookie season after learning a new defense and position for that matter. Then the next season he had to learn another defense, then the season after that. You get the picture. He has improved every year regardless of the scheme he was in. He is now a very well rounded and exceptional MLB. His stats are Urlacher like and although he didn't get the attention Urlacher did, he has quietly made himself into a very good football player. Hawk is on the same path. The only difference is that he had the hype coming in and every play he was in on last year was looked at. This year you don't hear to much and I suspect you won't. He will do a good job but won't blow your skirt up. Next year he should be on par with Barnett's level because he will have functioned in the same defense for two years which seemed to make it "click" for Barnett, Hawk is a similar type player so I expect the same from him.
