My other concern is the influence(marijuana, etc) he might have on the younger players. We need to remember the Packers have the youngest roster in the NFL.

Bad influence on the young pups. I would be surprised if he is in great shape. The last time he came back from a year off he was quite a bit out of shape - but he did come around in 4-6 weeks. However, he is now 2 yrs older. I would hate to invest in the guy (time, money isn't a big deal) and then have him banned for the rest of the season after a couple of games.

I would say, let NE have him then.

I don't worry about that, I would guess that 50% of players smoke pot. I know half of my friends do. It is a very common drug. Who gives a shit? As long as he runs the ball effectively and passes the damn tests.
