Purple pride means overtime for Green Bay police
Vikings-Packers rivalry has a history of high arrests at Lambeau

The Minnesota Vikings' annual trip to Lambeau Field has topped the list of rowdy crowds at 1265 Lombardi Ave., besting the Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears crowds in arrests and ejections.
Over the last five seasons, Green Bay police have arrested an average of 12.5 people per game when the Vikings are in town, according to a Green Bay Press-Gazette analysis of Lambeau Field arrests — slightly higher than the 11.6-person average for the Bears' visits.
Most arrests are for unlawful conduct at a public event, a municipal ordinance encompassing such offenses as fighting, cussing and smuggling booze. The citation usually carries the potential of an $865 fine and a trip to jail to post bail.
Skewing the Bears' average was the perfect storm for arrests created on Christmas 2005 when 25 people were arrested. The 4 p.m. kickoff, a division rivalry, a legal holiday the next day and a Packers loss all contributed.
Without the Christmas game arrests, the Bears' average drops to about eight arrests per game, 1.5 arrests shy of the 10-year average for Bears games at Lambeau.
Only six of the fans arrested during the most recent Bears and Vikings visits were from out of state. Seventeen were from Wisconsin.
But the arrests don't tell the whole story.
Police ejected an average of 28 people a game during the last six visits from the Bears, which pales in comparison to the 44-person ejection average from the last six Vikings visits.
Green Bay police are aware the Lambeau crowd gets rowdy during Vikings games. However, that doesn't change their game plan.
"We have a history of having staff that can adequately handle even the most troublesome games," said Lt. Bill Bongle, who supervises the game day planning. "I am aware we have an increased level of activity with the Vikings games, and we'll be ready.
"But that one factor doesn't cause us to spill over and put on extra staff because it's a rowdy game."

The Vikings quarterback carousel appears to be taking another turn this time around, as Brooks Bollinger has all the earmarks of being the Vikings' starting quarterback Sunday.
With both Tarvaris Jackson and Kelly Holcomb listed as questionable, but both able to practice on a limited basis Friday, leaving some to speculate that that recently signed Koy Detmer might be released if it is deemed that T-Jack and Holcomb (he prefers not to be called K-Hol) could both be ready to see action if necessary.
As is his wont to do, Brad Childress spoke in code and riddles Friday saying that he hasn’t ruled out Jackson starting, but hasn’t said he will return one week after being knocked unconscious against the Chargers. He doesn’t want to give the Packers a competitive advantage, but, at 7-1, it doesn’t seem like the Packers will change much regardless of who the Vikings quarterback is.
If the Vikings do make a roster move involving Detmer, it likely will come before the

Good Luck Rastak...but not that much luck...Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

Have a good one today gang. I won't be around for it. My girlfriend and I have church and then the game at her parents house. You know it's been a weird year so far...I got a job in Adams-Friendship, got a really nice place to live in, and I have yet to watch a SINGLE Packer game at my house this year. My girlfriend is finishing college in Oshkosh, so I go there most weekends, and a couple of the times I was home, I watched it at her families place (she's from Adams). So my big screen has yet to see a Packer game in my "home". That or I've been at the game.
Side note, Adams-Friendship Boys basketball team, #1 team in D-2 Pre-season rankings....good thing I coach the girls."I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny Murraugh
