  • Post Game chat with Cleft Crusty (Dallas)

    HI Folks,

Well, I'm betting there will be a lot of bitter Packer fans who came to the realization that the Packers are just another also ran in the NFL. If you have any questions for 'Ole Clefty, I'll try to answer them. It's way past my bedtime and my migraine medication isn't kicking in, so I may be a bit terse and nasty. But no apologies because when you're getting paid 1.50/hour, you just don't care.

Is it ever OK to challenge a 15 yard completion in the first quarter? Did McCarthy let his emotions get the best of him there?

What about the refs? Are they Jones golfing buddies or did they just placed some bets on the Cowboys?

Doubtful. He's showing some things, but he won't get enough yards to attract attention. People who vote for the pro bowl love to look at stats or just vote based on past performance. Why do you even care - go tickets to Hawaii. And if you were going to Hawaii in Feb. why the hell would you waste time watching a pointless game between disinterested millionaires. Maybe you'd have more fun in Vegas watching high stakes poker instead.

It was an absurd challenge. He can't challenge the blown INT call since forward progress being stopped was ruled. So he ended up just challenging the completion. He lost track of what was important because the refs clearly blew the call and he may have been steamed.

I only wish. It's in my contract to not take those types of drugs while working for the generously paying JS. Perhaps later, to kill the pain, I'll take some.

You could complin about the refs, but first you have to complain about your starting QB reverting to 1992 without the athleticism and your secondary looking like they has Terrel Buckley and Ahmad Carroll at the corners and Antwaun Edwards and Eugene Robinson at Safety.

Why do you think in the first quarter that the Packers went away from their bread and butter--the short passing play. After a while you gotta figure out that the bombs aren't dropping, don't you?

Cleft. We lost. So why do the Boys look beatable to me if we've got our full contingent of starters in January?

Should Bigby be yanked from his starting job and replaced by Rouse?

I can't understand what they were thinking except that the pass protection was breaking down. Daryn Colledge was a matador at RG and could have gotten Favre killed, but wouldn't you go to more short passes rather than throw deep int double coverage off of play action that wasn't fooling anyone? Very strange.

If your starting QB plays in any game against any team like he did tonight, you won't beat anyone, regardless of who is lining up at corner or safety. It's hard to imagine that Woodson can make up so much ground, but that's hard to say. The secondary was so befuddled, it's amazing they only gave up as many points as they did. I suspect Favre's loss caused Dallas to ease their foot off the pedal. The game was over before Favre left, but his departure sealed the deal.

It depends on how healthy Rouse is. Plus it's a bit late in the season to make a change like that. The real problem wasn't Bigby alone - it was how the secondary didn't work together.
