Since Jolly has been out, Williams hasn't been nearly the player that he was for the first 9 games. I think he's benefited by having Jolly wear out the Olineman and then in comes Williams in the 4th (usually with the lead), completely fresh and he rushes the passer on every down.

He's a good player, but I think he's showing that he's more one dimensional and clearly a beneficiary of lining up (fresh) next to Kamp and KGB on 3rd and longs.

I hope we keep him. I think the franchise would be a good way to have him for another year at a reasonable price. If another team is really willing to give him a superstar contract, then I think that it would be better to just let him go (after we get one more year of his prime with the franchise tender).

If Harrell shows anything(I doubt he will) than I'd say let him go. Honestly, I see 99 as a good rotation guy, not much else. He did zero tonight and I don't think you pay a guy like that 6-7 mil for one years service.

I'd love for them to keep Williams but damn he got destroyed on run plays tonight. He just kept getting stood up.

Yeah, he brings value in the pass rush but he really benefits from not having to play ever down and having fresh legs in the 4th. Olineman get tired too. It's really an advantage for a guy like Williams to only play 50% of the snaps and then have Kamp and KGB lined up next to him with the lead in the 4th quarter. He's pretty good, but it's pretty obvious that he's in a dream situation for a DT.

It's 5.7 for one year, bulldog. I think it's worth it for one year because he's in his absolute prime. He's not great, and he'll never be better but a one year deal is very low risk. I think it would be good to keep him with the franchise.

Not worth 5.7 to me, sorry.

I think Harrell, Pickett and Jolly are all big enough to play either tackle. Hopefully that flexbility next year allows for a dominant run stopping team.

I agree and then we could have Williams as our 3rd down specialist, even if it is just one year at 5.7.

I think keeping Williams for one year is also a good idea...just to make sure Harrell pans out. We have the cap space...why not use it?

They kept showing him on the bench last night towards the end of the game. He had that " Damn I cost myself millions" look on his face

I think they'll give him 5.7 for a year and hopefully use that leverage to get a lower cost long term deal worked out.

He didn't earn it last night, thats for sure.

I think when Jolly gets back, Williams is going to go back to looking like a stud pass rusher (becuase he's rested and playing passing downs with Kamp and KGB). He'll go back to getting all single blockers and he's a good player right in his prime so he takes advantage. He's a really nice player to have around. I hope Ted tags him because it gives us one more year out of Williams best years before we lose him and then when we do lose him, hopefully someone grossly overpays him and we get a nice compensitory pick.
