    Daryn Colledge benched

    With 9:47 left in the second quarter the Packers made two substitutions and 3 position changes. Jason Spitz went to left guard. Juice Coston went in at RG & Aaron Rodgers went in at QB. Brett went to the sidelines with his injury and Daryn Colledge went where he belongs, the bench.

    Colledge was sent there for having as bad a 1st quarter a left guard can have. He whiffed on blocks, fell down, and was strongly manhandled by all his Dallas adversaries. It got so bad, the staff realized they had no shot at moving the ball with him in the game. The revamped OLine soon got things moving as Spitz played well. Junius Coston done won himself a job. A guy who looked like a cartoon character in his younger days has blossomed into a real live NFL guard.

    Daryn Colledge will sit for awhile, barring injury. He just has to get mentally tough with himself if he wants to play regularly. His push and overall strength are not NFL caliber at this point. He needs to get in the weight room to improve his shove and strength if he ever wants to play in the league.

    In a season of pleasant surprises, Colledge has been a decidedly unpleasant one. Definitely the biggest disappointment this year. He needs to get his act together, or he'll be sitting on the bench waiting for one of the tackles to retire. He will also have to deal with Barbre, who would seem to have a lot of the same skills.

      As many people have mentioned, Colledge might just be best suited to playing left tackle.

        It's a good move. Hopefully it will be an education for Colledge.
        And Huck...why does your avatar have the Pack's next opponent in it? What's up with that?

          That's true. That's like a guy who can paint portraits, but can't paint a house. Colledge made strides last season. He was vastly improved at season's end compared with his ghastly start.

          This year he started slowly and went steadily backwards. In Dallas, he had to know they were gonna attack him after his opening play masterpiece in Detroit. Shaun Rodgers essentially threw him into Favre on the first play from scrimmage. The staff then had him and Wells double Rogers. That wasn't possible in Dallas. In order to cover for him, they needed a new player at his position.

          Hard to say what kind of player he'll be. He's still very young and has skills. Now, it's up to him to get NFL strong.

            He must be disappointed in himself. He's a smart guy, so I expect him to use his head to get over this.

              I'm still a Green & Gold guy. But Madtown is the leader of the packerrats gang, and he says the gang colors are Silver & Black, so by gum I'm a Silver & Black man too. And in case you haven't picked-up on it, here is our official gang signal:
