I miss Wayne Fontes. Those were good times.[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

People forget how putrid Lion fans can be. They only come out every 12 years or so. The thing that gets me is their lack of football knowlege. ?They are generallt jusy a bunch of razz artists.Originally posted by FritzHi-def, low-def, no-def...I don't care. I think this one's actually going to be on tv here in metro Detroit today. I believe it's the CBS game. I can flip between this one and the Detroit game. And I can do what I always do - hope for a great Packer win, and a terrible Detroit loss.
I think my deep dislike of the Lions goes way back to '91, when the Lions had that one good year, with Barry Sanders and Chris Spielman and all. People who knew I was a Packers fan were freakin' ruthless with me, and were really shamelessly over-the-top about how great the Lions were. I got hammered all the time, tormented about how lousy the Pack was, and the braggadoccio from the Lions fans was torrential.
Apparently that experience scarred me. Fortunately, the Lions themselves helped me heal by getting their asses handed to them, stuffed with the member of the Washington Redskins, in the playoffs that year. And they've sucked ever since.

McCarthy didn't call bomb after bomb. He wanted to stretch out the Dallas defense and make them cover the whole field. Favre made the decision every time to bomb it up. MM didn't tell him to bomb it up no matter what. He said take it if it's there. Brett tried to take it and it wasn't there (neither in protection nor in the coverages he was seeing). MM can't predict the defense. He calls the play and Brett has to take advantage of what is there when the play develops. That was all on Brett IMO.Originally posted by ND72I personally think they'll come out a bit energized today. 3 games in how many days, now they got a "little" break, and they are coming back home. Crowd will be ready to go. I think they'll come out hot...and I think Brett will come out hot. BUT...McCarthy has to stick to what has won us games, not bomb after bomb.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

And for the record, MM should continue to call deep balls and Brett should check the fuck out of it if he sees 2 deep safety's like he did in Dallas. INstead Brett went out into cover 2 and threw it right to a safety. That is just stupid football. I don't care if one of the WR's is running deep on the playcall, you don't have to throw it there when you know the defense isn't giving it. Maybe he doesn't know, and that is part of his record interception legacy. Deep balls change the game and they make the defense respect you. It's a part of every great offense. It's up to the QB to know when it's there and when to check it down. The playcaller can't call scared because he thinks is QB is jsut going to chuck it up no matter what. AT that point, you get a new QB.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.
