On the shoulder, that is.
We all knew an operation was gonna happen when he got IRed, but here's more info on it,
Jolly will require shoulder surgery
The Green Bay Packers placed defensive tackle Johnny Jolly on injured reserve earlier this week because he needs surgery on his injured shoulder.
Jolly was injured on Nov. 19 against the Carolina Panthers and spent the next three games on the 53-man roster while team doctors continued to evaluate his shoulder. Tests last week showed the shoulder had not responded as the medical staff had hoped, and on Tuesday he officially was shut down for the season.
Though it's a blow to the Packers' overall defensive line depth and for Jolly, who had been one of the Packers' most improved players, there are no concerns the injury will threaten his career. He is expected to be ready to participate when the offseason program begins in March.
Jolly started seven of the first 10 games and had 31 tackles, one sack and five pass deflections. He was injured on the first series against the Panthers but remained in the game until he hurt it again while throwing the key block on a 94-yard punt return for a touchdown by Tramon Williams. He actually returned to play four more defensive snaps before he was taken out of the game.
At that point, the Packers called his injury "significant" but still held out hope he could return for the stretch drive or the playoffs.
To replace Jolly, Packers General Manager Ted Thompson claimed defensive tackle Conrad Bolston off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings.
One thing has bothered me in this whole deal. Why can't they announce what is specifically wrong with John's shoulder? There about 20 different things you can do to screw up a shoulder. It doesn't sound like a rotator cuff or something super serious, why don't they just say what's wrong with him?
