Demand is high for Favre's SI cover

    By Don Walker

    Thursday, Dec 13 2007, 04:47 PM

The demand in Wisconsin for last week's edition of Sports Illustrated, which named Brett Favre as its Sportsman of the Year, apparently was sky high.

Karen Dmochowsky, an SI spokesman, said the edition sold out so quickly in Wisconsin that the magazine's publishers ordered up an additional 50,000 more copies. Those additional magazines will go on sale throughout the state on Friday.

Sports Illustrated's circulation nationwide is 3.2 million, and the magazine is printed in six plants around the country, including Quad/Graphics here in Wisconsin.

Dmochowsky said that it was somewhat unusual to order an extra press run.

The last time the magazine did it was in 2001, when Dale Earnhardt died.

Was down at the local quick-e-mart a couple of days ago, and they had at least a few copies left....if anyone wants one, let me know, and I'll go back and see if they're still there - I don't mind shipping them out.

There will be so many copies out there that 50 years from now. When I'm thinking about dieing, and passing on my heirloom's. That edition of S.I. magazine wonTt be worth as much as it otherwise might have.

Any counter idea on this thought?

I'm after it as well and I can't even re-call or locate a depaneur (store) that has a magazine rack around where I reside.

I wouldn't imagine a huge demand for that p0articular Favre Edition around here but I may be surprized as he's a popular fella around the world.

Once the face of the NFL and HE's BACK!!!!

I read an article on Michael Vick being the former chosen face of the NFL and I couldn't get that.

I've never been a Vick fan. I never got the rave on him.

I look for special qualities in a PRO athlete; following closely THE BEST as I counted the years as a sports fan. Men like Sam Sneed,Hank Aaron, Frank Mahovlich and Guy Lafleur were my guys and then came Favre.

Brett Favre is my ALL TIME favourite PRO athlete by a long shot he has risen to that in my experience as a Packer fan.

I could literally get so pissed off when Packer fans here stab him.

                        That I want to fight.

                        My DARK side boils up.

Well give the crappo a fierce SHAKING at least.

It gets personal when it comes to Favre. That's a weakness in me.

Just a little inside on me that noone would otherwise have ever guessed.

                        Eh?
