Anybody know of a good (and free) application to convert .flv files to .wmv, .avi, or other formats?

There are a couple of freeware versions of stuff that will do what you need.

I've found links to these apps before. They said they were free, but the first one I downloaded required me to register at their site after I had converted a handful of files. The second one put their ad on the video--until I purchased their product. Thus, they weren't really free. I was hoping somebody had found something that was truly free.

That sounds about right....I thought the oem versions of nero or pinnacle had a converter? I'll check and see.

Maybe check a warez site..... or not.

Did you check ffmpeg? I am not sure if that will do it but I would imagine so.

Thanks for the feedback. I just tried WinFF. I converted one to .wmv file without changing the settings. The quality wasn't that great. However, there are options to change Video Bit Rate, Frame Rate, Video Size, etc. I'm not sure what I'd change it to though. The interface is a bit lame, but it will work. I'd like a bit better quality though. There's no help for it either. Anybody work with WinFF before?

Best free converter I know of. Been using this for years. Converts just about any type to any type.
