I'll remember that. Has anyone tried St. Michel? I took it to a New Years party, and one of the guests was very excited by its mere presence, but it never got opened that night so I didn't get to taste it.

The wine Journel is OK, but if I have 50 bottles of wine some day, I want a better way to organize it than flipping through 50 pages.

If it's in excell, I can have the wine that is ready to drink become bold. Then I only have to sort through the bold options rather than having to sort through a whole book to figure out what is where.

It's really just a crude inventory management tool that I plan on using. I'm not good at Access, but if I was I'd make a database instead. Regardless, I'm proficient enough on excel to make a pretty handy little spreadsheet.

As each wine gets taken off the shelf, I can rate it and slide it to a different page where they get sorted according to their grade. Then I can use that information to help me pick out wines in the future.

              Here's one for OPF...

              Amity Willamette Valley Trio
              $59.99 + $5 shipping

              condition:
              Oregonian
              product(s):
              1 Amity 2005 Winemaker’s Reserve Pinot Noir
1 Amity 2006 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
1 Amity 2006 Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc

How is the wine from this area OPF?? (if you've ever partaken of any wine from there, I mean)

              Just curious.

I always come to these conversations late.

A few years back my doctor suggested I drink 4 oz. of a red wine a night. Supposedly...
***Raises high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol
                ***Lowers blood pressure
***Inhibits the formation of blood clots
****Helps prevent artery damage caused by high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, the "bad" cholesterol
                Who was I to argue?

I don't have a glass every night but I do when we have something open in the house which is maybe 1 or 2 a week.

I find that my easily-upset stomach handles wine MUCH better than beer. Go figure. I love beer...beer hates me.

I like reds anyway so that wasn't a problem. I like Shiraz and Cabernet. Merlot, Pinot Noir is OK.

I'm afraid I'm not very wine sophisticated. I just like to drink a glass by itself. Food gets in the way of the alcohol (just kidding).

I don't pare foods with wine...I'm just not that sophisticated. I drink what is open. I know that the right wine with the right food is suppose to enhance the dining experience but I guess my taste buds just aren't that developed...or else I killed them all in the 60s/70s.

I never really paid much attention to labels. I was under the impression that a label may have a good year followed by not such a good year so that if you don't keep track of the years along with the label it may not do you much good.

Question? What is the best way to store wine...red and white? How long can you keep it stored before it goes bad? We have had wines that tasted like vinegar when we have opened them up.
My house is in Georgia but Wisconsin is my home.

Keeping wine stored in a basement and on its side is the perferred method. Keep it out of the sunlight. Wine can go bad anytime its exposed to sunlight or if the cork gets to dry and cracks.

                      Wikopedia:
"Its aromatic flavours make Gewürztraminer one of the few wines that is suitable for drinking with Asian cuisine. It goes well with Munster cheese, and fleshy, fatty (oily) wild game. Smoked salmon is a particularly good match"

I've never tried gewurztraminer (thank goodness I only have to spell it and not try to pronounce it), but I like all the foods it's supposed to go well with! I'll give it a try......any one label better than another?

It was a really cheap bottle. I don't know for sure but I'd imagine its under 10 dollars.
