Try a Pinot Noir from Oregon when eating chicken or turkey

For a white wine with italian food try an Italian Pinot Grigio

For a red wine with Italian food/pizza I like Californian Cabernet Savignon.

I drink Californian Merlot with Steak
To much of a good thing is an awesome thing

Its still kinda early for me, but if you'd like to get your groove on in the morning - go for it.

Did you think we didn't 'hear' you?? .....referring to MJ's double post.

I haven't had a chablis in years. Any labels you'd recommend?

Come on Scott, it's cocktail hour somewhere!

It's almost lunchtime here. If the execs can have their 3 martini lunches, I can have a glass of wine since I get to go out today and I'm not driving either.

I like Wild Horse Red wines

Our flagship expression is a free-spirited and full-bodied Cab that leaps out of the bottle with unbridled notes of wild cherry balanced by hints of toasted oak and warm spice.

I like Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio

Wild Horse wines are typically $15-20 per bottle
Santa Margherita is $25 a bottle

I drink the brands above on special occasions.

For normal meals I can't justify spending that much so I just try to match the wine with the food I'm eating. I try to stay between $10-$15 range. I haven't found a wine less than $10 that is worth drinking

I certainly agree with you on the Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. Will have to look into the Wild Horse.

And altho what you said about under $10 is true, I've been finding that some of the pricier bottles don't always live up to the cost.

Lately I've been going to weekly winetastings (it's winter, not much else to do) and only buying the more expensive stuff, and sometimes not... after I've had a taste.

Just a note. The vineyards in Sonoma (most) don't charge for tasting, whereas the ones in Napa do. I found the ones in Oregon also had no fee.
This summer I'm going to try out on Long Island.
I love trying local wines. Here in CT. One of the best is Jonathan Edwards.

Enjoy fine craft wines from CT & CA. Visit us for tastings, vineyard tours, & join our wine clubs for exclusive benefits!

I may be biased, but it's worth a try.

Anyone else have a local wine they'd recommend?

Believe it or not, there are some vineyards in UT. I just haven't tried any. I have tried this local concoction though:

Anyone ever do a Spodie Odiee? Shot of port, shot of whiskey, and then a shot of port. Not a fun affair.

Oh yeah - it's real. They have a entire lineup of brews designed to thumb their nose at UT's predominant culture.

Here's what all the kids at BYU drink:

This one was in response to more restrictive alcohol advertising policy from our teatotaling liquor commission:
