Social Networking sites

What are some social networking sites / web apps that you guys use? I have spent a hearty amount of my day trying to come up with an idea for a web 2.0ish site where I could make some extra cash on the side.

I have one idea that is similiar to digg but for sports but I am not convinced it would get the traffic needed.

Other than that, I've got nothing.

So, what sites do you go to typically? What would you change about them to make them better? What is good and what is bad? What kind of community driven site would you like to see?

For whats it worth, I am going to try to implement all forms on said website using "portlets". I am just learning what they are and how they work at my job, and I figure this would be a much better way of learning how they work instead of confusing myself in the IBM tutorials.
