  • Question re: recorded political messages.

I received 4 recorded political ads via telephone yesterday, all from the Clinton campaign. None from anyone else, surprisingly.

My question is this, does ANYONE really listen to a recorded phone call like that? I hang up immediately, regardless of who it is on behalf of.

I never even pick it up...if I see a blocked number or some sales/marketing stuff I just let it go.

I'm getting them from Hillary and from McCain. I don't really listen to any of them. I think they are targeting people who they think are their supporters, and are just reminding you to vote. Not sure they expect you to listen to the whole message.

Political calls are exempted from the registry. They can still call you. My beef with the recorded messages is you can't request to be removed from the list.

Yup, that's the problem. You can't avoid them.

I have signed up for federal and state "Do Not Call" lists, and still receive quite a few. Most charities are also exempted from the registry, as is any business that can claim you as a "customer."

Don't forget the collection calls for someone named Shanti. You'd think she'd get imaginative and switch up the made-up numbers every now and again...

I rather enjoyed hearing from Obama today.

How do you know it wasn't Hillary calling? She's often criticized for sounding robotic.

She really wants my vote. Three more calls today.
                      Again, none from Obama.

That is surprising. We got a few Obama calls but no Clinton ones...

I haven't received one from anyone yet. Maybe they sense I could give a shit about any of them
