I'm off to the northwoods in a few minutes so I thought I quickly say thank you to all of our hero's who have served this country and made it possible for us to quibble about all of the "small" things while forgetting at times how blessed we are and that we owe all of our freedoms to these great people. Since we are now sixty plus years from WW2, these soldiers are dying daily and soon they will all be gone. If any of you have relation or friends that are still alive from this great war, please tell them thank you and make sure they are aware how the world owes them a great deal and that their generation will never be forgotten. To all of the rest of our heroe's from Korea to Iraq, thank you and God has truely blessed the USA with people like you!

Nicely put, Bulldog. I will forward the message.
Just a note to those who think that kindness is a lost art: My parents went out to eat a few weeks ago, and when they went to pay the bill, it was explained to them that someone had seen Dad's "WWII Veteran" cap that he was wearing when he arrived at the restaurant and paid for their meal as an anonymous thank you for his service."Greatness is not an act... but a habit.Greatness is not an act... but a habit." -Greg Jennings

In my last job, I travelled so much I basically lived at Frankfurt airport. A lot of US troops wearing desert uniforms would be in transit. Often I'd ask them where they were headed or had just come from. It was common to hear Afganistan or Iraq. I would make a habit of asking if I could shake their hands and offer my gratitude. And I meant it. They do appreciate being valued for their sacrifices.
Unfortunately, no Aussie troops transit through Frankfurt.
I am in the minority in Germany, but I really appreciate what our boys (US and Aussies and UK troops) are doing.
Germany does have a leading role these days in Afganistan as well, though.
