Without wanting to be disrespectful, and talking politics and religion is always thin ice territory, the world doesn't want another G.W. Bush. If McCain is remotely similar, the world would settle for Harlan.Originally posted by sheepsheadI agree a black man from Chicago could and maybe should be president. Just..this isn't the guy. well then you'll be relieved to know that G.W. Bush isn't running. John McCain and Dubya are anything but close associates. They have a history and it's not of working together. He would not have been my choice but that whole "Bush 3rd term crap" isnt going to stick to McCain. The left is going to have to come up with something better.Lombardi told Starr to "Run it, and let's get the hell out of here!" - 'Ice Bowl' December 31, 1967

No disrespect to you Tar, but "the world" can go fuck itself. I mean, are people in Germany or France or England supposed to care who Americans want to lead their respective nations as much as Americans are expected to care who Europe wants to lead the US?Originally posted by Tarlam!Without wanting to be disrespectful, and talking politics and religion is always thin ice territory, the world doesn't want another G.W. I understand you're not trying to force those views on us, but it's also every 4 years that we're reminded that Europe is a seething mass of indignant people who are constantly disappointed that the US doesn't act in their best interest.

I'm sure Harlan would love to be Commander in Chief, but we cringe at that thought. Why do the Europeans like Obama (besides that he's black and from Chicago)?Originally posted by Tarlam!Without wanting to be disrespectful, and talking politics and religion is always thin ice territory, the world doesn't want another G.W. Because he is so non G.W. Bush.Originally posted by LL2Why do the Europeans like Obama (besides that he's black and from Chicago)?
The world was laughing when the USA elected G.W. Bush. It was crying when you re-elected him.
This has nothing to do with Dems vs Reps. The world doesn't care about Libs vs Cons.
The world hates Iraq. It agrees with Afghanistan but says finish what you started.
Look, I am Tarlam! the Packers fan just bringing the messages. PR is my home, OK? I am family!

Yeah, I understand that. I just doubt that any European country gets to hear as much about what the rest of the world thinks is best for them in their elections as we do nor are they expected to take those opinions seriously at the risk of being called ignorant to world affairs.Originally posted by Tarlam!I think, Skin, that I acknowledged, on behalf of the world, that we know nothing. We have no vote but we have an opinion.
I could be wrong, though since I don't live in Europe. Maybe there's stories all the time during European elections about who the American people want elected to lead them."You're all very smart, and I'm very dumb." - Partial

In fact, we do hear who your President wants elected. Since he is your chosen champion, I guess the folks of the USA do have an opinion here.Originally posted by SkinBasketMaybe there's stories all the time during European elections about who the American people want elected to lead them.
Surprised? You shouldn't be. Your President is THE MOST POWERFUL PERSON IN THE WORLD! He has a say in German, English and French politics.

yup most of us could give a packerrats ass what they think. You do seem to be more conscience of conservative values by the recent French and German elections however.Lombardi told Starr to "Run it, and let's get the hell out of here!" - 'Ice Bowl' December 31, 1967

I have a friend who supported Obama (as opposed to other Dem candidates) for this very reason.Originally posted by Tarlam!Because he is so non G.W. Bush.
It must be nice to take a "finish what you start" attitude when it comes to Afghanistan. And the world also has a strong interest in a successful, democratic Iraq.Originally posted by Tarlam! The world hates Iraq. It agrees with Afghanistan but says finish what you started.

No doubt. Hopefully, we can step back from this after Iraq and Afghanistan have been resolved. Let others that sit closer to Iran and North Korea deal with them. I doubt anybody will though.Originally posted by Harlan HucklebyThe U.S. doesn't have the resources to be the world's policeman, while the world sits back and freeloads."There's a lot of interest in the draft.
