It's hard not to pull for Tiger just because of what an amazing player he is. He is one of a kind and I figure I might as well root for him because players like him don't come around too often.
However, I will be rooting for Rocco Mediate tomorrow. He lives in Naples and is house is only a short drive from mine so I'm pulling for the local guy.
Tiger is my generation. Tiger is not the Yankees, he is one person on a quest to be the best. He came from remarkably humble beginnings, especially compared to others he competes against. He had no country club privileges. That is what makes Tiger special.
He is probably one of my favorite athletes competing right now. Like Favre, you tune in when Tiger is playing because you never know when you are going to see something magical.
How about Phil and his melt down today on the 13th? How many time are gonna hit the shot short?
That was brutal to watch. Ernie Els ended up doing the same thing. Phil has just never been the same since Winged Foot. He's been good, he's won a few, but he's never got back to that level.

Tiger = Jordan and the Bulls? Well, I didn't root for them, either.
Tiger = Favre? No, don't get that comparison, either. Tiger is way more dominant than Favre was, but is more injury prone. Personality and charisma-wise, they are nothing alike. That comparison just doesn't work for me, sorry.
The Yankees comparison does, and I'm sticking with it. Y'all don't have to like it. But face it, not everyone roots for Tiger. And just for calling me idiotic, I will root extra hard against Tiger and will join BallHawk in rooting for Rocco.
I could see Rocco winning tomorow. Another day on that tender knee could prove to be too much and Rocco is really playing good golf.
Problem is he is going to not only be playing golf, he is playing against the spectre of Tiger, and very very very few people would not be bothered by that. Its an advantage Tiger has earned thru the years, it is why guys like him and Jordan get better as they go in finesse sports.
Football is much different, in a violent physical sport, "tightening" up isn't really a factor, in golf, or basketball it is.
Interestingly, if tiger had struggled early in his career and gotten that seed of doubt in his mind things may have been dramatically different in the golf world.
The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi
but tiger could also learn to throw the driver out of his bag tomorrow. he can't swing the big stick with his knee the way it is. he should have learned by now
if he would have checked his ego and hit 3 wood of the tee he would have won today
rocco just seems like a ball of nerves just listening to him talk. he needs a smoke and a drink
if both guys keep it together it could be a great round, but i could also see them having one of the uglier rounds imaginable, even worse then today
what time does it start tomorrow? i don't want to miss the whole damn thing because of work
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER
Normally I don't watch golf, but watching holes 16-18 was awesome. Tiger needed the birdie on 18 to tie. I thought it was over when his first shot went into the sand and his second shot went into the rough.
Rocco comes off as a huge douchebag. Go Tiger
