Ty started this thread looking for a way to register his extreme disgust with another thread that celebrates the death of Tim Russert. (For the record, I share Ty's revulsion.) If memory serves, everyone else--or almost everyone--who contributed to the thread has similar feelings about the other thread. When Tarlam criticized Ty for starting this thread, he was coming in late (36 hours after the original thread was started) and he wrote only about Ty's attacking another poster--and said nothing about what might have motivated Ty to do so. fHe also singled Ty out when in reality there were many who were feeling the same way. I think THAT is what Ty was reacting to when he made the remarks about sobriety--the fact that Tarlam either wasn't seeing or wasn't acknowledging the entire picture. I don't read what he said at all as a cheap personal shot against someone who just posted about their struggles with alcohol.

Perhaps it is the fact that the thread which is referred to is so offensive...we may share the sentiment, but to put the reaction into a thread of its own...the other thing to note is that Tar hates threads like these and usually is the one with the balls to stand up and say he thinks it's wrong to start a thread going after an individual poster no matter what they've done. I don't recall anyone else he's chided for this ever coming back at him with something like Tyrone did. Ty could also be getting extra abuse for it because he is such a caustic forum personality. I don't know if he's that way in person as I've never met him, but on the forum, he can be kinda brutal and you tend to get what you give.

I don't know. I felt, and I assume Ty felt, that the person starting the other thread had crossed the line. Not only the line of civility (that was crossed long ago) but the basic, zero degree decency of not dehumanizing your political opponents, and especially not when they're dead. In that light I thought Ty's thread was perfectly understandable. It's not what I would have done--my own feeling, right or wrong, is that to name the other poster or post in their thread is to give their actions more dignity than they deserve. But I don't think what Ty did deserved being called out for it.

The problem is, both of the threads in question were started to get a reaction from the others who frequent this site. This is exactly what has happened. They dont care if the reaction is positive or negative, as long as someone is paying attention.

Its the off season and its harder for normal non-attention seekers to avoid these really stupid threads. There's nothing much football related going on, and its summer(almost) so people aren't as bored sitting around their house starting interesting threads. Plus its an election year. I'd almost rather have Bearman back than see another political thread started. Well thats a stretch, but you get my meaning.

I must be drunker than usual, but I didn't think Tex started this thread. And, I guess that's what my problem is with this thread. Look, disagree all we want. We're all big kids and can take care of ourselves.

I know Tex doesn't need my help. None the less, if Tyrone had started an anti Bretsky thread, I'd be pissed. An Anti Skin thread, I'd be sticking up for my bro Skin. An anti Sheep-Dip thread, believe me, I'd be defending the Dipper.

We shouldn't do this kind of thing to eachother. We have so many Bear's and Vikings fans to pick on. Tex is a grand ol' Packer fan. He's one of us.

I feel like Patrick Henry or whoever it was back in the beginning of the country who had the famous quote, "I may not agree with what the asshole says (paraphrasing), but I'll defend to the death his right to say it". To the death is kinda extreme, but as the target of Tyrone's ..... whatever you want to call it ......, I'm not bothered by it.

Spewing and ranting--just like I did--is what forums are for. Of course, that includes ya'all's right to make a big deal about this thread, I guess.

Tarlam started on me on a completely different thread in the packers forum. Believe it was vanderjagt thread.

If we look at the history...first he comes on this thread and posts that he likes Tex. Then he reposts it...in response to MJ.

No reply from me.

then he posts again.No response from Tyrone.

He again posts. To TwoSeven..no response from Ty.

He posts..and calls me an idiot. No response from Ty.

Calls for deletion..no response from me.

Finally, he goes off AGAIN...calls me a fuckin dipstick...and Tyrone responds.

Tyrone didn't go looking to start a fight with anyone...tyrone wasn't arguing with him about Tex. But, ty isn't letting someone call him a fuckin dipstick.

Tarlam challenged me to go after him..said he could take it. You wanna fight? then we will fight.

Then, he cries like a little bitch...i have no class, congrats..i beat up a drunk, etc.

Tyrone didn't ever say he was a bad person, worthless, etc...tyrone merely stated that observing how drunk he is/was, his attitude...and the complexity of his problem..that drying out might take a bit longer than he expects.

Tyrone didn't say he couldn't do it. Tyrone never said..you'll always be a drunk.
