  • Solving 2 problems at once

Today Delaware passed a bill allowing offshore wind farming 11 miles off their coast.

Not only are they solving the energy crisis, but they showed that it actually IS possible for a government entity to get something done.

I suppose it's a step in the right direction. But geez - these guys never do anything on their own. It's always some knee jerk reaction after some reasonably predictable event - this one happens to be $4/gallon gas. I'd prefer to give credit to OPEC or the oil commodity speculators.

Yes, the government is slow, but the companies developing this stuff have apparently been at it for a while, so you have to give them some credit for giving them something to shove through by an overwhelming vote.

We have some wind farms in sparsely populated, eastern Oregon.

Movements to put wind generators in the Columbia River Gorge have failed due to "Visual pollution."

For those of you who are geographically challenged, the Columbia River Gorge is the border between northern Oregon and Southern Washington. The wind is very strong much of the year--west wind in the summer and east wind in the winter.

They should put wind farms in western Canada.
