Oh, sheep you just make it too easy.

Senator obama wasn't a member of congress in germany..hence is senate aides dropped off the tour.

He was there as a campaigner. Big difference.

Actually got into a conversation today with a woman who is offended by Obama's take on race. She is truly bothered by the fact that while he was raised by his white grandparents, he only wants to talk about his black father (who walked out on him). She thinks the grandparents should be much more prominent in his vernacular.

I just finished Obama's 1st book 'Dreams from My Father'.
Explains alot.........his father didn't actually 'walk out out on him'........

True (that was the phrase she used), but if you read that book, didn't you find it odd that he seemed to be framing everything from the view of a black man? He was raised by the white half of his family. I recall something about his work in the projects that I found odd, but now can't think of what it was. I wanted to read Audacity of Hope to see if it is framed differently.

The sad thing here is the once proud "party of the people" have nominated a man who is unelectable. In a year when they should be walking all over the GOP, they somehow think things like accomplishments, character, decisiveness shouldn't be considered for the most important job in the world.

Should we even be talking about the color of his skin or his parents or grand parents? Sadly, that's about all this guy has accomplished is being born.

Senator McCain doesnt trounce Cindy out on stage. Can anyone name his kids? Ever see them? 3 are serving, 2 are active. Doesnt anyone know anything about his grandmothers? (Grandfathers yes, because they were Admirals)

                It's really an embarrassment.

How should it be framed. In this country you are black if you have black blood in you. My god, we had names and classifications for how much black blood was in you.

Doesn't matter who raises you...kids, neighbors, etc. will all view you as black...or mixed.

So, while reinforcement of "whiteness" may have been in the family (or maybe it was also that..don't forget your dad and his culture)...for sure society didn't reinforce it.

Also, i don't think you can discount being raised in Hawaii as well. Hawaiians label people..Haole, Hapa,

Although he was raised by his grandparents, his mother, his stepdad.....I think he bases all on the fact that his color wouldn't allow him to 'hang' with the white kids, and both his mother and grandparents encouraged his embracing his black heritage.
I've just started ' The Audacity of Hope'.........will let you know how that one is.

I wont get into how he won his sentate seat. Please take the time to research it. He was basically unopposed after an unprecedented drudge up of Ryans divorce records by the Chicago Tribune. Ryan did far far less than 2004's nominee for VP Edwards. Far less, the things he did he did with his wife. Barry hasnt done squat since winning the seat unapposed. (I live here) you can research that also.
Again, im not running for anything-why are you comparing BHO to me. He should be compared to others that were seeking the job. And now, the other guy seeking the job. First we need to look at his accomplishments then we can talk about what his ideas are for the future. Most of us cant get past the fact that he has done little with his life to even deserve consideration.
President of the United States is an important job. Trust me , we're not going to hand it to a guy just because he looks good in a suit.

Truthfully, I think BHO should come back to IL. Run for governor(ours is in deep doo doo).

Get a few gray hairs and attempt to run something for once in his life and try again in 12-16 years.

Illinois is a solid blue state and I'm sure he can establish himself.

After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.
