Ummm...we're not the same person...even though we're both liberal pot smokers. He likes Coldplay. I do not. I am the manager of a Minneapolis rock band named Perfect Enemy (www.myspace.com/perfectenemy). He is not.Originally posted by MazzinStarting to think tank, and jacks smirking, MAY be the same person, come clean tanker.

There isn't much happening right now but entries. Since the boss is not here, I am taking more breaks than usual. I've just finished checking out the Perfect Enemy myspace that JSR provided. I cannot hear the demo that turned on automatically because this is a quiet enviroment and i had to turn off the volume after 5 seconds. There are no headphones available. I will listen to the demos later and if i like it i will see if i can buy a copy of their album. Perfect Enemy sounds pretty good from the 5 seconds I've listened.
Anybody think Audioslave is a metal band? or is there a different between metal and hard rock? Or is they an alternatvie rock band? I like Audioslave's out of exile album very much.

Thanks for checking out the site Tank. I appreciate it. And double my thanks to you if you end up purchasing it. Our CD release party is here in the Twin Cities on July 22 and we've got an awesome bill of the following bands. Coincidentally, they're all on myspace. (All art and merch and marketing designed by me).Originally posted by Anti-Polar BearSure, Mazzin, anything for you.Originally posted by MazzinSorry for the confusion guys....umm So tanker you going to give us a blog of your current state.

Perfect Enemy (www.myspace.com/perfectenemy)
GingerJake (www.myspace.com/gingerjake)--check out the lead singer; she's a hottie
One Less Reason (www.myspace.com/onelessreason)--band from Florida
Drift Effect (www.myspace.com/drifteffect)
Audioslave. An interesting discussion there. I spent last weekend doing shit around the house all weekend long and their new song was played over and over again on the local rock station. I actually started thinking about that too. The new stuff is so unlike Soundgarden and DEFINITELY far away from the power of Rage Against the Machine.
There's a definite difference between metal and hard rock. I guess I would say that hard rock edges closer to pop, has recognizable hooks and choruses and the music isn't as complicated. Metal is about attitude, aggressiveness and guitars. Slipknot is metal; Stone Sour is hard rock. Tool is metal; A Perfect Circle is hard rock. (A comparison driven from the fact that the lead singers are the same for respective bands, but are aimed at different markets, genres).
It's probably more complicated than that, but that's the abridged version.

Thanks for the explanation, Jack. I will check out your links later when i get home. As for audioslave, I know Chris Cornell was formerly of Soundgarden but I've never listened to the band before. I believe Cornell turned Audioslave toward a different direction, away from Rage, because he did not want to be writing politcal inspired songs. Anyway, thanks again for the clarification.

I was a big fan of both Soundgarden and Rage, but I don't get into Audioslave. They seem like a watered-down version of what both bands were in the 90s. Both were amazing in their own right. Soundgarden has sooooo many classic songs. You should check them out sometime. If I were going to recommend a single Soundgarden song, I'd probably say check out "Fell on Black Days" (which, actually sounds a bit like Audioslave). Soundgarden was truly a heavier band in its heyday, with hits like "Outshined", "Jesus Christ Pose", "Black Hole Sun", "Blow Up The Outside World" and "Pretty Noose".Originally posted by Anti-Polar BearThanks for the explanation, Jack. Given your statement about politics, you obviously know what Rage was all about. That's probably why I can't get into Audioslave. Tom Morello, who is the guitarist for Audioslave and was one of the driving political forces behind Rage, seems like a silenced man with Audioslave. He's still a political activist, but he's had to shut up for the sake of making mainstream music and money. I absolutely loved Rage Against the Machine. Still do. For the art they made and for what they stood for, tried to do.

There's merit in listening to a woman on this one Tank. They've got the inside scoop.Originally posted by MJZiggyTank, why not try taking her to one of the multitude of free things going on in DC. That place is always crawling with stuff to do. Tell her you'd like to go to the Renwick to see the Grant Wood exhibit featuring American Gothic, but would feel weird going to see it alone. Last time I was in DC, we went there and the level of detail in his work is really cool. Now you can say that you've heard it was really good and you thought she might like it. Then take her as a friend and come up with the next free simple thing to do in DC. If nothing else, at least you get to see a famous painting.
