Thanks for the welcome to the Forum. I really couldn't help myself, I had to say something to this jackal. At first when I started reading I thought it was kind a funny idea but the more I read the more I wanted to back hand this kid. Enough said! I returned to accounting after that, and own my own tax firm. My employees are the best paid, best benefit plan employees in my local area. ALL the year round employees have worked for this company longer than I have owned it. There are several temporary employees that come and go, however, thats typical in the industry.

You are just saying that to avoid losing customers. We all know you are one strict, cost conscious S.O.B.

Mark Cuban is the only boss in the world who treats his employees beyond respect. Cuban made his billions by selling an Internet site to yahoo and then bought the Mavericks and made the players so happy they forgot how to play defense.

I can't believe your boss said something to you. I work for fortune 500 company, so its big and half the people I see are surfing the net. That surprises me. I would say I surf the net 10 minutes for every hour of work.

I worked for a corporation last summer. This year, I am interning with a LLC. Small office atmosphere. Plus the boss probably was angry at everybody since not much got done last week when she was on her mini vacation.

Got my paycheck today. Man, the DC taxation is high. About 24% of this check went to the government. But what am I to complain? I am a liberal. Even though I am only 1 person, I feel good knowing that my money is helping improve society.

This weekend should be fun.

That was actually his second career. He retired at around 30 or so from his first business and traveled the world for 5 years before starting up the company he sold to Yahoo!.

If all you had to do was pay 1/2 or 1/3 of the rent, buy some grub and spend the rest on dope, you probably wouldn't miss 24% of your paycheck. Also, remember, the most important tenent of liberalism is to "feel good" at the end of the day. "Imagining" that you are helping someone, instead of dumping money into an inefficient black hole could let you "feel pretty good", you know what I mean?

Remember, Fosco, we're supposed to be letting Tank ENJOY being a college liberal. Don't remind him of the unimportant shit us "conformists" deal with every day.

True that! Except since-
1. I'm a travelling consultant I end up paying more in taxes (multiple state submissions - sometimes which net out to more that one state). I've even been on projects travelling for more that a year (mandatory compensatory taxation on all expenses - raising to the AMT and taxing investments not related to yearly income!).
2. I've got no kids or other dependents.
3. I'm done w/ schooling and don't qualify for many tax cuts (loan interest, etc.)
3. I live in SoCal and can't afford land/homes quite yet.

Basically, I'm in the worst tax situation. I'm throwing all I can into my 401k (pre-tax) and investing as much as possible.

I should just move to Texas or Nevada (no income tax), have some kids, buy a house/etc.

The worst part, I feel, is that I use far less of social services that I'm forced to put in - ahh - death and taxes.....

I'll keep you in mind next year

You obviously haven't been to California recently. You can buy rental property in Iowa. You can't in California, depending on where he is. Average home price in Los Angeles is about $500,000. It is psycho.

Yes, I know. I didn't mean buy in Cali. He said he travels. If he knows he will be in (blank) State 4x per year, buy rental property.....maybe where a relative/friend lives and pay them to manage it. He can stop in and check things out 4x per year..........another write off.
