  • She entered his room without knocking.

DOUGLAS, Ariz. — Police say a 12-year-old Arizona boy shot and killed his mother with a handgun after an argument.

Cochise County sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas says deputies were called to a home Friday near Douglas on the Mexican border. They found 34-year-old Sara Madrid shot multiple times, and she died at a hospital.

The boy was booked into the county juvenile detention center on a charge of first-degree murder.

Capas says the boy was at home with his mother, stepfather and a sibling when an argument broke out. The parents left, and when they returned the boy opened fire on his mom. No one else was hurt.

Capas says she does not know what the argument was about.

Maybe she was just looking for beer.

I bet she was after his pot stash. (remind me again why a 12-year old has a loaded weapon in his room?)

obviously the guns fault, not that of bad parenting or foolishly leaving your gun where your pissed off 12 year old could get at it.

The thread title was a joke...like that was a reason for shooting her.

It's redundant to say bad parenting...they had a gun in the house.

Of course they did, how would one protect his family if there were no guns in the house? Now a gun where the child can get at....and the ammo as well, that is bad parenting.

The kid's 12, not 5, I'm sure he could get past any hiding place the parents could put it. I mean, sure, they could lock it up in a safe, but then when somebody comes to rob their neighbor's house it'd take too long to get the gun out and shoot 'em in the back. Speed is everything.

well, that is one problem she won't have to worry about.

First off a combination trigger lock takes about 8 seconds to remove IF you know the combo...second I always keep my clip somewhere else. Could a child who is undisciplined enough to snoop around my room find it, probably, but if said kid was snooping in my room he would get distracted by my porn collection and forget about guns.

This is no joking matter. Is it mandatory that you always must act like an ass? I'm kinda hoping not.

Really? Perhaps you should also address Rand..who made a joke about beer.

But, the thread title in no way suggests that her death was a joke..it is a pointed rejoinder to the pro gun section of this forum.
