  • Drinking Beer

For some reason I have beer on the mind today. Maybe it’s all the new Oktoberfest beers showing up in stores. What are your top three places to sit (or stand for that matter) and drink a beer?

    No politics….sorry Tex.

    1. Nepenthe – Big Sur, CA

    2. ANY ski mountain. But I will choose – Zell am See, Austria

3.Memorial Union Terrace – Madison, WI

After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

I've got nothing against beer drinkers. I'm just not one. It tastes like piss to me--and no, I actually never tasted piss. But I bet it tastes like beer.

The Odeon cafe in Zurich is a great place to drink beer on the sidewalk...the London pub in Kitzbuhel....the seven glaciers restaurant at the Alyeska ski resort...my house...on my brother in laws patio....Humpies bar in Anchorage...the red dog saloon in Juneau. I better stop now...

If you are ever in vegas and want a workout, rent a car and head west on charleston about 15 miles to calico basin (right before the scenic loop). Climb to the top of the rock (about an hour if you in moderate shape) and drink a beer.

Drinking Beer. I'm going to celebrate this thread with a pic

Drinking Beer is good(although not always appropriate) any day of the week and the Memorial Terrace is a fine place to get Hammered

Anyone ever take the factory tour of Miller Brewery? I've never tasted better beer than the stuff they serve after the tour. Maybe it's the atmosphere, or because it's fresh. Or because it's free.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

                          Yes. I agree with you.

Once, on a layover in Amsterdam, I had the same experience at the Heineken kiosk/bar at the airport. I think they bring the good stuff out.

A good spot to drink. You can lock the doors to keep the nagging kids away, and it saves you the mad dash. Plus your wife doesn't bitch about having to clean up your vomit.

Kitzbuhel…..reminds me that I never answered your question. No, I am not Franz Klammer. But I have skied down the Hahnenkamm. What a great place to ski. I remember I ended up somehow at a town (looking down the mountain, way to the left); no lifts, no nothing. I didn’t know what to do, so I hung out with some Austrians. They just got on the next city/town bus with the school kids and business people and got off at the base of Kitzbuhel.

I do feel a little like Franz though when I go down Dave Murray at Whistler. I think that’s where there are going to put the Downhill course during the Olympics.
