True, but he was hoping to pick up the disenfranchised women voters (like Harlan) who wanted Hillary and that backfired on him badly. There was more to Hillary than being a female and he couldn't just plug in any female and expect it to work. Had he tried someone like Ann Richards or Condi Rice (yes I know she wouldn't run), that might have worked in his favor.

The real question is are her handlers idiots, or are they from the McCain camp and getting her back for going rogue too often? Not only did they let this joker get to Palin, but they also did not break in when it was obviously a prank.

what an embarrassment. I heard the audio from that prank and it wasn't believable by any stretch. Why would she think the French President Nicolas Sarkozy would be calling her?

But now that you've brought it up.......I HATE that John McCain chose an incompetant person to be his running mate. I don't hate her. She's in over her head........I feel sorry for her.
Same can be said for Joe Biden, who sticks his foot in his mouth with alarming regularity. Biden is the one who proposed Iraq be divided into 3 sections. Great... an Arab version of Yugoslavia.

Same guy who said re: Obama..."I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is," (in 2007 http://www.denverpost.com/election/ci_10634783. "The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

I do find it puzzling that some liberals yearn for a woman as Pres/VP, just as long as she is liberal. If she's conservative, OMG! She must be the stupidest b*tch that walked the earth.

If the tried and true veteran Joe Biden gets a pass on spewing gaffes from the press then Palin should be cut a little slack also.

What is TRULY incompetent with Palin that makes some have such contempt for her? The seeing Russia comment from Alaska (re: her foreign policy experience)? Or maybe it's that nasty separatist party affliation? Puh-leeze. Biden could stick BOTH feet in his mouth with both hands tied behind his back. You wanna play that game?? Then explain Obama's relationship to Jeremiah "God damn America" Wright or Ayers. If not, stick to the issues.

Yup, she's a God-fearin', rifle totin' (probably even tobacco chewin') backwoods hick that don't know jack about the world. (probably can hear the "Dueling Banjos" theme from Deliverance now....)

Anybody who can beat a CORRUPT incumbent gov. and fight vs. her own party to get elected governor of ANY state, should be deemed worthy of at least some modicum of respect. Sadly, many dismiss her. I fault McCain and his staff for keeping her under wraps as long as they did. If McCain didn't pick Palin, it'd be like Reagan vs. Mondale 1984 in reverse. Palin is the only thing HELPING McCain stay within striking distance.

Personally, I am not as enthusiastic about McCain as I would have for someone like Huckabee or Romney. I would've voted third party in this election if McCain picked someone other than a conservative like Palin. Then again, I did that once before in '92 and I won't do that in the future unless someone truly outstanding comes from the 3rd party ranks.

If Obama wins, he will have to do one thing...lead, but from the center. If he tries enacting all sorts of left leaning legislation and the economy doesn't improve or worsens, the disillusionment in gov't will go WAY beyond what it is now. Also the Democrats would lose greatly in 2010 House/Senate races.

If McCain wins he must deliver to avoid the GOP becoming a regional party. IMO, the GOP is drifting too far from it's conservative roots. They need more of a Teddy Roosevelt type of Republican. He truly fought for the little guy & still helped the US be a world leader.

You mean Kay Hutchinson I think. Ann Richards, like Molly Ivins, is no longer with us.
