Anthony Acevedo thumbs through the worn, yellowed pages of his diary emblazoned with the words "A Wartime Log" on its cover. It's a catalog of deaths and atrocities he says were carried out on U.S. soldiers held by Nazis at a slave labor camp during World War II -- a largely forgotten legacy of the war.

Great story about a vet who served his country in WWII. Horrible that the govt. wanted them to shut up about it and didn't give them full benefits until much, much later on (Not starting political discussion here.)

    God Bless our troops.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
      In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
      In Flanders fields.

God and the Soldier, we adore,
In time of danger, not before.
The danger passed and all things righted,
God is forgotten and the Soldier slighted.

Does anyone every say anything when they see an person dresses in uniform at a resturant or someplace? I always want to say something like thanks but really dont know what to say. Maybe buy them a beer?
I have (especially if he's cute...) and I've been out with my parents and had someone anonymously pay for our dinner because my dad came in wearing his WWII Veteran hat. If it was one of you guys, thanks!

            That is a great idea.
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.
