People are also stuck in Bangkok, Thailand with the takeover of the new international airport there by anti-government protestors and the second airport shutdown by the government.
I'm sure that the Mumbai airport is under strict security as well so that's disruption at two major hubs in Asia.
There's a lot of frustrated businessmen and families on a Thanksgiving holiday "trapped" right now.

The State Department says there is no indication of any American casualties. Apparently, there are only 30 dead altogether, so this whole thing is kinda overblown--symbolism over substance.
Just the same, it would seem to be a major tactical error for the terrorist enemy to provoke India--nearly a billion Muslim-hating Hindus who are nuclear-armed.
Our hole card in this geopolitical poker game, in fact, is India. And while America might show restraint from any catastrophic solution to the radical Muslim problem, India just might not--and that would be just fine with me.What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Gunmen in Mumbai leave at least 101 dead; hostages taken
MUMBAI, India (AP) — Teams of gunmen stormed luxury hotels, a popular restaurant, a crowded train station and a Jewish center, killing at least 101 people and holding Westerners hostage in coordinated attacks on India's commercial center that were blamed on Muslim militants. Dozens of people were still trapped or held captive Thursday
Police and gunmen were exchanging occasional gunfire at two luxury hotels and dozens of people were believed held hostage or trapped inside the besieged buildings. Pradeep Indulkar, a senior official at the Maharashtra state Home Ministry said 101 people were killed and 314 injured.

OK, I stand corrected on my "30 killed" figure. that's what I saw on the news last night. Still, 101 falls way short of 3,300 or whatever, especially in a country that has about four times the population of our own.Originally posted by KiwonGunmen in Mumbai leave at least 101 dead; hostages taken

It sounds like it's still going on, and the death toll could go up. The Prime Minister of India is saying the terrorists have connection to "another country". Don't be surprised if India takes an Israel-like approach, and strikes back internationally. It would be unfortunate if they had another installment of their series of wars with Pakistan--this time with nukes, but I wouldn't mind at all seeing India taking out the major cities and military of Iran.
With a wimpy non-interventionist and possibly even pro-Muslim administration taking over in America, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see an Israel/India alliance doing some serious ass-kicking on their own. That, of course, might trigger an all out war with Muslim countries that even we would be dragged into.
Sooner or later, that all out war against the forces of Islam is coming--the terrorist enemy isn't going to stop pushing until they provoke it, and sooner, IMO, is a helluva lot better than later. Hit them before they have the capability to do serious harm to us.
This would be similar to what General Patton supposedly advocated after World War II--taking on the Soviet Union and eradicating that rats nest with nukes--before they had the capability to retaliate. That would have spared us 50 years of Cold War and threat of nuclear war with them. Taking out world wide Islam now might be similarly beneficial.
America, of course, would never initiate such a thing--especially now with Obama as president, but India and Israel really might get the ball rolling to the extent that we might be drawn in to help finish the job.
The scary thing is that our new excuse for a president is on record stating that if it came down toa war between Muslims and America, that he stands firmly with the Muslims. And America was hoodwinked into electing that America-hating asshole.
I doubt that this war to eradicate Islam will actually happen. It's just a nice Thanksgiving Day thought. What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

OK. I was under the impression that this Obama quote was common enough knowledge that it didn't need documentation, but even though I detest doing research, I dug this up on FactCheck.org--arguably a liberal website, at very least, an objective source:Originally posted by bobbleheadgotta back the socialist on this one tex....if you are going to assert that you gotta document it. "In His Own Words"
The last quote tells all we need to know! Be sure and read that one!
This guy wants to be our President and control our government. Pay close attention to the last comment!! Below are a few lines from Obama's books " his words:
From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."
From Dreams of My Father : "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."
From Dreams of My Father : "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."
From Dreams of My Father : ; "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."
From Dreams of My Father : "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela."
From Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FactCheck.org points out that the context of this quote indicates Obama's support for Muslims in danger of being locked up as security risks--Guantanamo, etc., and not support for Muslim enemies like Iran in international conflicts. That might slightly mitigate the anti-American aspect of Obama's quote, but not much. What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

According to reports at least 5 Americans are dead. One couple (a Rabbi and his wife) were killed in the Mumbai Jewish center.
Another pair were a father and his 13 year old daughter.
This had to take a helluva a lot of pre-planning to carry this out.
If this group is based in Pakistan, it means more animosity between Pakistan and India.-digital dean

Here's the actual quoteOriginally posted by texaspackerbackerFrom Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Perhaps if you check your information before posting shit from spam e-mail you won't come off as a complete fucking moron.FULL QUOTE From Dreams From My Father:
Whenever I appear before immigrant audiences, I can count on some good-natured ribbing from my staff after my speech; according to them, my remarks always follow a three-part structure: “I am your friend,” “[Fill in the home country] has been a cradle of civilization,” and “You embody the American dream.” They’re right, my message is simple, for what I’ve come to understand is that my mere presence before these newly minted Americans serves notice that they matter, that they are voters critical to my success and full-fledged citizens deserving of respect.
Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
