Tuesday night on the way to my mothers house. I came up over a small hill on the 39N, about 50 miles south of Stevens Point, and got about 100ft of warning. Was doing about 80 when I saw the doe in the middle of my lane, hit her about 55mph. Almost missed her, but just not enough warning or room.

She darted off the road, never to be seen again... My insurance company and I thank all you deer hunters who have these things so freaked out they just don't know what to do....

    <sigh>

You're pretty lucky that's all that happened to your ride. Nice vehicle too..but they should be able to buff that out in no time at all.

See, that deer works for obama. He saw you were driving a mercedes and decided to 'redistribute' some of your wealth to a poor struggling body repair shop.

I knew that if I posted it here, someone would explain to me just what happened. It's beginning already! lol.

Yes, am very lucky. Like I said, I almost missed it. if i'd have had another second of warning, I think I might have missed it. The quarter panel is fixable. It needs a front bumper cover, as well as a new light assembly. (It cracked the plastic where the screws attach the things to the frame). right now, the light shines into the oncoming traffic lane. fortunately, it didn't damage the hood at all, or the grille, or the brand spanking new condenser (that I installed myself last summer).

            But otherwise, all ok...

Well, Don. That wasn't even the goal. I took about 5 pics for the insurance adjuster. This was the only one that didn't have my full license plate in it...

RG, sorry bout Bambi kicking your cars ass... but you can't blame it on the hunters. It is the hunters who are protecting social security.

If we didn't have the hunters the deer population would be out of control, which would necessitate the need to increase the wolf population, which would of course lead to the wolves eating children... we need those children to pay for all the socialism.

So see, the hunters are protecting the baby boomers rocking chair years... this logic is infallible, IMO

                  RG,
Ever seen the movie I Am Legend? All the deer running through Times Square would be reality if not for hunters. Maybe you should hire one of us hunters to track down that doe and shoot her ass.

That's a stupid thing to say. But it's normal for people to blame anything other than themselves for their poor driving skills.

It's too bad that deer didn't rub it's chronically wasting Lyme diseased body all over you.

Despite being raised and living much of my life in Wisconsin, I had never hit a deer with a car until I came home for my mother's funeral 4 years ago.

We flew into the Twin Cities from Portland and rented a car. Just 5 miles south of Barron, I hit a large buck about 11 p.m.

Fortunately, I saw him dart out and had slammed on the brakes just before I hit him. My rental car must have been going only about 10 mph at the moment of impact. He bounced off the fender and landed on my hood. The buck rolled off the hood and ran into the woods.

A pickup behind me saw the whole thing. The driver had a powerful flashlight. We searched my car and road for blood. We did not find a drop.

The dent on the hood of my rental car must have been just 2" by 12." The repairs came to $800.

Ironically, the next day, family friends coming for the same funeral also hit a deer on the same road at night again just south of Barron. This time the car was totaled and the deer was killed. Fortunately, no human was injured.

Your mistake was trying to miss her. Go for a head shot, and at least you have some venison for your trouble. What the hell, you belong to PETA or something?
