        Hey Nutz, Eh!

That was one of those - ' shit happens sometime man ' episodes and hopefully we can move onto another possible disagreement of context.

I certainly respect you and all members on this fine forum, and what we stand for here, will not always be agreement on the tack we sometimes take.

        It's all very interesting.

Murph's gonna have unfettered access to a mule?

Unless he's got Internet access in the barn, I wouldn't expect to hear from him for a while.

But I know several people who have done very well otherwise. There are some advantages to raising kids in your 20's, as opposed to 30's and 40's. It really is possible to get back into college and career in your 30's, after kids are older. You have more energy for your kids, and you have longer to be with them. I know 3 women who have been very happy and successful after devoting early years to child raising.

When you think about it, whether you raise your kids in your 20's or 30's/40's is NOT that GIANT of a difference. It competes with career either way. It certainly is no trajedy, or a "crying shame", as noodle put it, to bring up kids in your 20's.

Hell, my mom did it, and I only turned-out a little fucked up. In not so distant past, it was standard for women to have babies when they were 17-23 years old.
At the risk of stoking this up again, let me clear up something -- I wasn't saying it's a cryin shame categorically for folks to have their babies when they are in their 20s. Like HH, I too was birthed by a woman who was young, 23, at the time. Though, like HH, I'm not sure I'd use my face as the poster child for having kids young.

What I thought would be a shame was the specific situation Mazzin is in. She's 18, not even 20. She's still trying to finish college. She hasn't established herself on her own yet. Oh, and she's not married. So yeah, I think it would be a shame if Mazzin had to fast forward her life to become a single Mommy at 18 years of age. There's a lot of livin' and learnin' she should get a chance to enjoy, not to mention all that english horsejumpin'.

And yeah, I think Mazzin's Mom is smokin' hot.

Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

                        Noodle:

It really comes down to, the stress that todays generation must face today, compared when when I was born.

My father was straight back, from a 6 plus years service overseas's with the Canadian Army. At a coming home reception party for Dad my Mother was in attendance. Mom was the local school's 'only' teacher. She was only 17 years old and shortly after they started to date - I was conceived.

Mom had to give up teaching, to get married to Dad, and bring me into 'that world', which was easier, than what a young mother may face today. Still - they had their early struggles, with what was then termed - 'a shotgun wedding'. A married couple must enjoy one another for some time , to enjoy one another, to get established before a planned parentage program is considered.

Dad had to learn a trade in another City fr. where we made OUR home and became a Master Plumber, and a really fine parent.

All I have today that is ' the good or real substance of value in me ' I owe to my parents. They - now deceased, gave totally of themselves to enable their children's genuine values, through proper mentoring from various sources. I was very fortunate, despite the pressure they faced - in what was then considered a forced marriage.

I believe that is much harder today.

                          • I think this thread was disappointing.

Some people gave their "tough love" in a nasty and/or condescending way. Which of course leads to defensiveness, then name calling & more attacking. I don't suppose hard feelings will last, but still it was an unpleasant discussion.

I'm afraid we're not that different from the old place. You can take the posters out of JSO, but you can't take the JSO out of the posters.
