At the very least use Frostwire instead of Limewire.

The SkinBasket found his new media hub for the ol' home network. It's got some wacky RAM, but it's not like I'm going to be running Crysis on the thing. Maybe now I'll be able to run iTunes.

      Q6600 (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)
500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
      4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz Dual Ranked (4 DIMMs)
16X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
      Subtotal: $364.65

Do yourself a big fat favor and make that beast into a hackintosh. You get the benefits of linux without the headache that is your typical modern linux distro.

Do yourself a big favor and get a decent 20-40 dollar heat sink, and overclock that processor 50%+. That thing is extremely overclockable.

Now that its winter and we're cheap and don't like paying heating, I just overclocked my processor slightly further and it added about a degree of warmth to my bedroom.

Onboard. I'll just use my old Radeon x700 until I find a good deal on something newer.

Slickdeals has deals on cards just about twice a week. You see the latest gen Nvidia midrange for extremely cheap. That's the route I would go.

What board does this have? Are you going to overclock?

I'm not going to be using it for anything that makes overclocking worth the time and effort. Essentially it will sit there and hold and distribute our media and burn porn. Occasionally it will have to run Diablo 2 or Minesweeper. There's a chance it'll get used more as the kids get older, which is why I didn't get a homosexual celeron, but overall it should have a very peaceful, easy life.

Videowise, I'll probably wait around until I find a returned/open box 8800 GTS somewhere.

The computer is scratch and dent. I hope it looks like ass. Beat up computers are funny.

www.slickdeals.net. They have AMAZING deals and made me wish I hadn't paid 55 for my 8600 gt last may. Could be rocking the 8800 gt for that amount nowadays if not less.

I'm not saying today. Every couple of days something comes up on the homepage. They have more graphics card deals than just about anything else.

I read this as you see one today. My mistake I guess.

The 8800 wants 400w. Ive got 300. Is this actually a problem if Im only powering 1 hd, 1 dvd, and 1 card reader? I'm too lazy to want to swap the psu.
