  • Barry appoints the guy that heads the school system...

that he refused to send his kids to!

I think the teachers union and the education system in this country is one of our most serious problems. This guy (Arne Duncan) has zero accomplishments (oh wait, just like his boss) and has no record of opposing the teachers union.

The last place in the world a union is needed is in the American public education system.

But then all those teachers fired for fucking their students while surfing for kiddie porn in the classroom wouldn't have a body to help them grieve their case and get reinstated so they can get back to educating the next generation of our kids. And fucking them. While surfing for kiddie porn. While occasionally drunk. And high.

I'm pro labor and I'm for breaking the teachers union or forcing them to reform. bad teachers here are never fired just shuffled all over the fucking place. The teachers, cops and firemen make their own rules and we pay them plus we pay the consequences.

        Agreed.

So this is the "CHANGE"?? Another liberal hiring a labor union friendly hack from a failing school system. Just great.

Unions are an anachronism in any profession. They have helped with a lot of the labor laws in this country, but their time has come and gone.

Their time has not come and gone like you suggest...but there needs to be reform and accountability.

You think Barry would've chosen someone better. The school system in Chicago sucks. Even the Chicago Tribune has written bad stuff about Arnie Duncan.

As an entity the CPS is the worst in the country. 6 out of 100 kids graduate from a 4 year institution following their time there! This is hope and change we can believe in alright.

Yes, yes, yes. But how much money do they spend? That's the most important gauge of success in a liberal administration. Something tells me it is a lot.

The head of the teachers union here was on a rickshaw in Denver(2 days before school started) during the DNC ( I cant make this stuff up)when a local activist was ready to bus some kids from the city to Winnetka (a nice suburb) in protest of all the cash he thought they were getting. They're always looking to throw money at every problem and piss it away.

                            Hmm. Ok.

Boosted test scores. Grad rate up 6 percent. Created 53 new schools.

In 7 years, elementary scores went from 38 percent meeting standards to 67 percent.

Dropout rate has decreased every year he has been in charge.

Hmm. Criticized by educators for pay for performance. Pay for grades...hmm, i seem to recall a daughter of certain republican touting just that.

Hmm. Tried to enforce higher standards for teachers and principals. Closed and reopened schools..and made teachers reapply for their jobs.

Criticized Ayers...oops. Shouldn't be doing that...makes conservatives lose their mind when things arent' black and white.

I'll also toss in the fact that the study Sheep posted about 6 out of 100 graduating college was a study of 1998-1999 HS graduates, before Duncan took over.
