I was pissed off by this whole story.

Whoever discovered this viagra stash should have kept their fucking mouth shut. Perhaps it came from police department, since I guess he was arrested.

I detest Limbaugh, but I think liberals who are making a big deal about this are being really foolish. I think most Americans hate invasion of privacy, whether it be by the White House, Police Department or the media. They risk turning Limbaugh into a sympathetic figure.

Wasn't Rush on probation for a previous drug offense? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Oxycontin situation was illegal. Thus, he and his private plane are under valid scrutiny, regardless of where he is. The guitarist of my band was caught with an illegal substance, did jail time and was on probation. He was let off this past weekend. Up until that point though, he had to face the law through tests and scrutiny every single day. He faced going back to jail.

I have no sympathy for Rush. Another example of a public figure getting away with sh@t. And Rush is a very public figure with a very public drug history. There's no absolutely no excuse for him to have an illegal prescription.

I'd wholeheartedly criticize this situation if a liberal talk show host was caught with an illegal prescription while on probation for a drug offense.

Honestly, I don't understand how people can defend him. If you're convicted of an offense under court of law, especially if you're an entertainer, your life is under extra scrutiny. Rush should know better.

I agree with you 100%, but here is a guy who admitted forging prescription drugs, and he is found with a bottle of drugs.. written for someone else.

That is breaking the law, just as much as lying about a blow job.

Sorry guys, but you are believing an incorrect media report. The reports are just beginning to surface now, but the prescription was written in his DOCTORS NAME, which given the proper paperwork was filed, is perfectly legal. Rush wasn't charged - because he didn't break the law.

You're correct. I read today that its legal in FL for a doctor to prescribe a medication under another name so long as the user and the doctor agree/comply. I still think it was well within the authorities right to search him, based on his drug history.

Ironically, this wouldn't have been news at all if Rush had his name on the bottle. I still think the situation is strange though. Anyone know why he jumped on his private jet to the Dominican Republic? Does he have a vacation home there? Just curious....

Here's what Rush had to say about it. No idea if its credible or not:

As I say, I have risen above it all each and every time. I'm just a private citizen in this circumstance coming back into the country. Mine was the only luggage searched that day, from what I'm told, at Customs. If my name had been Valerie Plame I would guarantee you this story would have been written differently and it would have read differently and there would be all kinds of, "Who in the government is leaking the identity and the details of this? He is an average, ordinary, common citizen," blah, blah, blah. But of course that's not the angle with me, which I fully understand. Now, there's so many aspects of this story, and this is understandable. I can understand how people would assume incorrect things because it's a quite natural thing to do.

A week ago Monday, I get back from three days, two-and-a-half days, in the Dominican Republic, and most of the time spent touring cigar factories and cigar farms. I had this bottle of Viagra in my briefcase. I've had it in there since December. I forgot it was even in there. There were 30 pills prescribed, and when they counted them out, there were 29 -- and yet, everybody thinks I loaded up on the stuff for a trip to the Dominican Republic, and that's what everybody was saying. "Wow, what went on in the Dominican Republic? Oh! (muttering)." In fact, when I cleared Customs there was this... I'm going to be very restrained in describing the agent but... I'll save that for another time. Anyway, I pointed out I have a briefcase that's got many different zippers. It's not a top that closes over a bottom. It's this thing that stands up; it's got side pockets and all that, and I opened the primary compartment where most of the things in the briefcase are, just to be cooperative, and she reaches in there, pulls out this bottle, says, "What have we here?" There are twenty-five people in the room. "What have we here? Viagra!" she shouts, "and look, it's not your name on the bottle! This is a crime! This is a violation of law!"

She's shouting this all over the Customs Office, and the whole room has come to a dead stop, and she races behind some closed door to her supervisor. The supervisor comes out and asks, "How many other prescriptions do you have, sir?"

"I've got two."

"They have your name on it?"

"Yes."

"What are they?"

"Look at 'em."

He said, "Well, what's this?"

I said, "I had an intestinal blockage in December. They're for that."
