Sure enough Red.....a note to Guiness's post.....a beer aged in rum cask's is pretty rare....I've only seen two others and one really stunk.Originally posted by redthat must be because we're the most sophisticated bunch of mother fucker on any packer board on this entire planetOriginally posted by GuinessPretty surprised to see the following for 'Les Biere Trappistes' that there is here.
For something completely different, I suggest Innocent Gun
A Scotish Beer aged in oak bourbon barrels. I've never even heard of this anywhere else!

Have you had any of it? Give us a review if you could...I'm always curious about odd beer styles. I was looking at the level of distribution in the US and it seems that it's all NY city and the surrounding area. Time for a trip to Ratebeer and see what I can found out about these guys.Originally posted by 3irty1Innis & Gunn makes one I know.Originally posted by Freak OutSure enough Red.....a note to Guiness's post.....a beer aged in rum cask's is pretty rare....I've only seen two others and one really stunk.Originally posted by redthat must be because we're the most sophisticated bunch of mother fucker on any packer board on this entire planetOriginally posted by GuinessPretty surprised to see the following for 'Les Biere Trappistes' that there is here.

i've never had one aged in an oak barrel
they're too rare and expensive for me to afford
i will say i once had a smoked beer, and it was the most vile disgusting thing i've ever drank in my life
i tried to take a second sip, but it wouldn't stay down

The Innis and Gunn I don't remember much about other than I thought it was really sweet.
The Left Hand Milk Stout though is fresh in my memory and I highly recommend it. If you've never had a milk stout it actually contains lactose so its got that milky sweetness in the finish. Can't get enough of it.70% of the Earth is covered by water. The rest is covered by Al Harris.

I've had a few milk stouts before and I really like Left hands...we get a few of their beers up here and all are pretty good....the fruit one (Gizu?? Ju Ju??) was so so....but they release a specialty every so often and they are usually amazing.Originally posted by 3irty1The Innis and Gunn I don't remember much about other than I thought it was really sweet.

Came across the Innis & Gunn by accident a few weeks ago. I was in a backwater store picking up some Guinness and decided to grab a bottle of Chimay. Got to the cash and the woman looked at my purchases and said "you might want to try some of that innocent gun, it's popular with some folks from outa town"Originally posted by Freak Out

(inside joke here is that the backwater place I was in was my hometown...)
Anyways, I liked it. Amber/copper colour. Head dissipates quickly.
Nose is butterscotch and smokey oak. The oak flavouring is faint, but present. And no smokiness there. What defines the beer more is the bourbon/scotch like undertones, and some toffee like flavours. But very smooth, no real aftertaste. Light carbonation. Slightly sweet and syrupy.
Wow, I just re-read that, and I sound like a bloody wine reviewer with a pickle up his ass. Yes, in the end, I drank the damn thing.--
Imagine for a moment a world without hypothetical situations...

Sounds like a euphemism to me. Still drinking crappy coors in cans or are you moving up to the quality stuff. Guess I can't say much as I lived last summer off the 42.34 keg of Keystone Light.Originally posted by 3irty1The Innis and Gunn I don't remember much about other than I thought it was really sweet.

Can't say that I've had much of anything from a can for the last few years. We keep a kegerator full of something domestic (usually golden draft light) and everything else comes in a six pack or is home brewed.Originally posted by PartialSounds like a euphemism to me.
