My car (2007 Saturn Vue) w/ 180K miles on it took a dump this weekend. Check engine light on, 23 error codes from the computer, etc. All around not good. Car sounds like shit.

Every cylinder is misfiring, so it seems like it needs every cylinder adjusted versus just spark plugs or something like that. The plugs aren't even that old, maybe 70K miles?

I am eyeing up these used cars. Does anyone have any experience w/ these vehicles? Selfishly, I want the Explorer based on looks and size. It looks bad ass and is bigger than the Highlander. I know deep down that the Highlander is the better value and likely will have fewer issues, though.

Which of these would you lean towards based on the info below?

I like 'em. I'm not really a small car guy.

I would imagine if I was ever to get a luxury/sports car, I would get a sporty SUV that handles really well and is fast.

I would be all over a Subaru if they were a little bigger. If they make a decent 7 seater, I'm in. The Forester is great other than it's CVT transmission and size.

The smartest amongst us...IMO....are creating their wishlist and will pounce when they hit a certain target.

Hard not to look at Sketchers, Under Armour...Apple..>Netflix....Google...around here.

I wish I had been at my computer yesterday, but I was tied up on an all day project. There was an opportunity to get AAPL well under $100. I had sold some a while back, because I felt I had too much, but at these prices, I will probably buy more today. AAPL under $105 looks like a 20% gift from the investment gods, maybe even 30% to 50% over a relatively short time. I'm real tempted to sell many other stocks I own, buy a bunch of AAPL, and go on an investment hiatus though the end of the year.

In the last few days I had added to what I held of Ryder, Sketchers and AEO. Last Friday, I bought HUN and TGT. I will keep those but may sell most of my other holdings and look seriously at putting it all into AAPL amd/or the other five.

I wish I had a pile of new investment cash available. There are some very good buys available. It's a somewhat hollow victory cycling money from big losers into the good buys, but that is what I will be doing to hasten my recovery. It has been a bit brutal on the IRAs the past month!

I made a huge mistake with JOY. I bought some when it dropped quickly a few weeks ago, thinking it was just an odd sell-off. Then, the China stuff hit. Now JOY's COO abruptly resigned. I was way too early buying JOY. They are at the bottom of a cycle, but I thought they should recover from around $30 to mid $40s, even during the depths of the mining cycle. Now, I think they might languish in the mid $20s for a while, but when their cycle starts to recover, I will buy again.
