  • Got a very high end basketball hoop; the four foot hole is dug and the concrete is in. Now I have to watch a week and a half before finishing the install.

Going to the Kalahari in WI Dells tomorrow with wife and kids.

Still have to go out shopping for my own mom; what do you get somebody who has nearly everything ?
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Ty looks for things that are special to that person.

For example, one year i bought my moms an orchid..which is definitely a really cool flower..and that doesn't die. Which lead to her and my dad getting into orchids.

Spa gifts are nice...specially for the older gen..they often have never went and won't spend money on themselves.

Usually i shop at places that specialize in interesting, unique gifts..that are really just god's way of saying you have too much money and stuff.

Browse our RedEnvelope Collection and treat a loved one (or yourself) to a unique gift. Shop Gifts.com now and get free personalization.

You don't think she would love a tote with pics of her loved ones?

Because that's a lot of money for a bat that will only be used for 1 or maybe 2 years. Baseball has to be one of the more expensive sports for kids to play.

During the years the kids are growing out of stuff every year......cleats, glove, bat, batting gloves, big bag to carry all the gear, helmet (son has his own "lucky" one), etc. More expensive than football or soccer.

                  • That is one heck of a lot of stuff. I had two gloves during 9 years of baseball, and maybe 4ish pairs of pants, and probably a few pairs of cleats, but we always bought those used.

No need for the rest of the stuff imo. Doesn't the team provide a few bats and helmets?

Team provides the game pants w/ the uniform. You can purchase used practice pants cheap. 7th year playing Little League.....feet grow a lot during those years. (I kept his first football and baseball cleats....kinda like the first pair of baby shoes....lol) The team does not provide bats. They do provide helmets but one was purchased for practice in the batting cages. Believe me, there has not been a lot of unnecessary spending.....but still a lot of spending.

Oh, and forgot to mention the cup and sliding pants. Unfortunately he opted for the thinner sliding pants and now has a huge strawberry burn....at this age he's still a lil too shy to have mom apply some cream to his upper leg/ass....lol

Why only 1 to 2 years? And, that is really no basis for talking about cost.

You can always resell the bat.

Your logic is kinda poor. Is a car worth 60k? Are tennis shoes worth 200? Is Screaming eagle worth a cool grand?

P.S. I"m sure there was a cheaper bat.

At 83 my mom has everything and is purging. She's getting a phone card and a gift card to Trader Joes because she won't spend the money on TJs for herself. And the food is consumable and now that she's on her own, she can get single serving meals.

According to Ty, why not use a wood bat?

300.00 bucks for a bat, I wouldn't spend it on a little leaguer. Until your kid gets into -3 or less league I wouldn't spend that kind of money for the reasons you are stating. Kids out grow the bat, and you don't want to get a bat that is too big because it will screw up their swing.

I understand that some leagues and teams require a player to buy their own bat. If so I think for a little league you can get away with a middle of the road Easton Rebel, or a Demarini. I would look on ebay for used bats as well. The internet also has some nice clearance bats but be careful of the shipping and handling cost.

Also the only difference from a bat production from year to year is the paint scheme. Usually if they are going to make a modication to a bat in a certain price range they will rename the bat. So if you find a bat that fits your child before you buy it, look online for the same bat but one that was made the year or two prior. Also go take your kid to a sporting goods store that has demo bats. He or she should be able to hit with the bat simply because it is the best way to tell if the bat works for the user.

                              • Craigslist. There is absolutely no reason to get your kid the newest 300 dollar big barrell 'black magic' or whatever is in. I would always just borrow somebody's bat or use one of the crappy team provided bats in little league.
