The just finished watching this new Nicholas Cage movie. I'm not sure if it's out yet or not, as I downloaded it on Torrentz.

It was a sci-fi/psycho-religious thriller of the first magnitude--kind of a racist ending, though.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Isn't there a thread about this?

Both of those National Treasure movies were outstanding too.

Damn Straight, Tyrone. No sense letting the damn Hollywood types profit from it. They might use the money to advance an evil agenda or something.

            Just another excuse from you.

            Thou shall not steal.

What part of that don't you understand?

Just more hypocrisy and demagoguery from you.

If you can apply the commandments, I guess I can apply a bit of moral relativism or whatever. Where is it written that "intellectual property" is capable of being stolen? If it's on the internet, it's like it being in the air--there for anybody to make use of.

While some act of theft by somebody may be necessary for DVD quality movies to be downloaded on the internet, the actual downloading is at most a civil wrong, not criminal--and certainly not a religious wrong--at least, that's my take on it. In other words, I'm pretty sure no such commandment exists that says: "Thou shalt not download thy corporate neighbor's artistry that has been designed to profit from public viewing of it."

Actually yes it is criminally wrong to download IP's. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I dont do it, I'm just saying that you can definitely get in trouble for it.

yeah, it is against the law tex. but from what i know, they usually do go after the people that distribute them more thn the people that do the downloading

its like drugs. is it better to go after all the users, or the dealers?

plus, you're opening yourself up to a whole shitload of viruses by screwing with those torrent sites

Distro's and archive people are the ones they go after most.

                            Copyright laws still apply here.

If all you are doing is viewing/listening to these files over the internet, say on a site like Youtube, that's one thing. Nobody can store, replicate, or distribute any file that someone else uploaded on Youtube (as far as I know).

If you are downloading these files and storing them on your computer's hard drive, thus enabling them to be illegally distributed to other computers or burned to CD to be illegally distributed to other people, that's something else. But in that case, I'd argue that it's the person uploading the file without permission who is guilty rather than the person who downloads that file from them. When you take something that is not yours, and put it on the internet to share with everyone else even though it is not yours to share, that is theft. Any way you look at it.

Watching you make it up as you go is hilarious. Talking about me and what i do or don't do, it doesn't change or make what you do ok.
