  • Collge Softball Sportsmanship Act Still Inspires

This week's copy of Sports Illustrated has an excellent article about the aftereffects of the softball sportsmanship act displayed during an NCAA softball game last year.

Division II player Sara Tuchofsky hit what appeared to be a three run home run against Central Washington. After rounding first base, she tore her ACL. Writing on the ground in pain, she could not continue any further.

The umpire ruled if she received any help from her teammates or coaches, she would be ruled out. In a remarkable display of sportsmanship, two opposing players from CW picked her up and carried her to second, third, and home bases briefly stopping to allow Tuchofsky to touch each base for the home run to count.

A year later, this act of sportsmanship still inspires people not only in America but around the world. Here is the article:

More than a year after the incredible act of sportsmanship, displayed in the Western Oregon and Central Washington softball game, the "moment" is still touching the lives of all that hear this wonderful story of virtue and kindness.
