  • Frank Sinatra

I watched the movie "Pal Joey" and realized that Frank Sinatra is a pretty damn good singer. I like jazz music, so Sinatra is not too far off the beaten path for me.

The guy made three fantastic albums with Count Basie in 60's, I love them, they are very fun.

As far as I can tell, after about 1970 he sang like a karaoke singer, and a bad one at that. Embarassing. Maybe that is why he became so uncool.

Frank could phrase, man. He was one of the best at making lyrics turn gracefully. I don't know what was up with the Love and Marriage and Rubber Tree Plant kind of stuff in the early 60's. I don't think those are the songs for which we will want to remember him.

Tony Bennet seemed to get better with age, though.

    The singer.

Not the linebacker or basketball coach.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

I like "love and marriage" because of happy memories of the "Married with Children" TV show.

I listened to some Sinatra 70's concerts and maybe I was a little harsh before. He could still do a good job on a few of the songs, in between butcherings.

His voice was still there in late 60's
