This thread has inspired me to buy a 1TB external drive for 80 bones off Slickdeals. It's for backing up my work projects, so it's a tax deduction. Sweet action. Cannot wait to finally try out Time Machine. I'm having a hard time finding a free tool online that will allow me to upload 800mb zip file other than dropbox (which I use as a tool to transport MP3s and movies between my comps -- this is my favorite open source tool).

Huh. I paid 99. for a 1TB drive from Walmart 3 months ago. So you saved 19 plus tax but had to wait 3 months for the drive.

I think I got a pretty good buy.

You're free to change/upgrade the PS3 HDD at any time with any 2.5" SATA drive. So it'll only run $45 to fix. Like I said, just a pain in the ass. That and nutz's Street Fighter progress will be lost.

Back your shit up on physical media. I was a week from doing it. Then the heads on our hard drive failed so hard they destroyed the platters. We were willing to pay $1200 to recover the data - just to make sure we weren't missing anything, but they can't. I also have 95% of the same data on the drive I had transferred it from a few months ago. In that time, that drive also failed - on a less physical level, so there is still high hopes for an almost complete recovery. But we're still one failed recovery effort away from losing 10 years of digital photos, illegal music downloads, and hundreds of hours of creative and professional work.

WTF, Skin? $1200. Snake is absorbed into NET/Comp needs 110%....I'd have done it for $1195. But seriously....what? Snake is an Internet phenom. I'd have done that for a case of beer and some good bratwursts. What? Computers are easy. WTF? U Got Robbed, Skin. Damn, bro. I know comps like my own balls (yeah easy and sexy). You got raped. Call the Snake (PM me next time). Damn.

I logged on to play Socom a few weeks back. 1/2hour PS3 update followed by a 1/2hour Socom update. didn't really notice much difference. some colors changed. I haven't played since. i know another major download is comming, wonder how long that one will take

You on dial-up or something? I've never waited longer than 10-15 minutes for a download/install... and that was back in the early days.

the system updates usually only come along every few months and most are small - take a couple minutes. The game updates are going to be a fact of life any time you put a game in for the first time or if it's been a while.

Just popped the new drive in and the system does everything for you. Kind of nice. Now I just have to download whatever shit I had on here before.

the original Socom Update was 45 minutes. That was a few months ago. this new one was supposed to fix a bunch of glitch spots and added a online tourneys. the next one is supposed to add maps and a few other features.

Wow...this turned into a PS3/Xbox 360 den. But that's ok. I got Mazzin as a friend on 360, but Snake's got a Wii/360/PS3....and EVERY fucking GAME. I'm a shooter beast (ala Call of Duty, SOCOM), like fighters (Fight Night, UFC 2009, Soul Caliber 4, SFIV) and sports games too (Madden 10, NBA 2k9 basketball).

..Got all 3 systems, but mainly a 360 guy. So send your screennames or post 'em up on here. No promises I'll be on much till it gets colder though, as I haven't played much this summer at all.
