i had an old roomate that was amazing with telemarketers. he was a salesman himself that was perfect on the phone, i'm talking like boiler room level of talent. he would just sit on the line with these poor people forever making them jump through hoops for him and leading them on right up to the point where they thought they had the slae made. then he would just say, sorry not interested, and hang up. it was a thing of beauty. he would play the gullible rube right up until the last second
