  • RIP George Steinbrenner

George Steinbrenner, love him (or the Yankees) or hate him, he was unique in his ownership style, hands on type of guy..

Re built one of the greatest sports orginizations of all time...
My Two favorite teams are the Packers, and whoever plays the Vikings!

Steinbrenner had a huge role in revitalizing the U.S. Olympic program.

    I can't run no more
    With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
    A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

As much as he was brash and obnoxious he does deserve a salute in resurrecting the Yankees team that floundered before he came in.

I don't think that's going to fit on the flower arrangement.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

Until the owners decide to share those big market giant tv contracts, MLB will continue to be a joke. It's criminal what happened to our national past time during Steinbrenner's era. And Bud Selig is every bit as dumb as he looks.

I take it you weren't invited to do the eulogy?

                  And quit plagiarizing Tex.
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

Is this better or worse than Tim Russert dying?

The Steinbrenner I'll always remember was the one in Seinfeld.

I just read he bought the Yankees for 8.3 million with $150,000 of his own money. The franchise is worth $1.6 billion today.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

the lesson here being that not even 1.6 billion will help you fuck your own face any better when you're dead.

I admit I celebrated when he was banned from baseball the second time. I even took joy as the franchise rebounded in his absence. I did eventually learn to regret that. Stupid, competent Stick Michaels and Bob Watson. Damn Yankees.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
