Don't you know - it's not the size of the screen that counts, it's how you USE it!

I noticed that when i connect via the s-video output the picture is not nearly as clear and crisp as it looks on my laptops monitor. any suggestions on how to get a better picture? I cannot make hardware changes to the laptop, since it is a work computer.

          thanks for the help

This is why I wouldn't recommend a laptop without a HDMI output. Not all laptops have them yet, but they should.

I'd like to give him a piece of my mind.

Seriously, the comment was directed more towards the inevitable Xmas threads "What Laptop Should I Get?" that are just around the corner.
