Welcome to "Vintage Restaurant Postcards & Ephemera". Welcome here are any vintage restaurant postcards, be it a chain, or a mom-n-pop kinda place. Geographically, contributions should be limited to restaurants the USA and Canada only. What's vintage? Anything 1979 and earlier fits this group. Anything after doesn't. Vintage fast food postcards (or ephemera) are welcome too, but more "mascot" type stuff should probably go into the "Restaurant Mascot Extravaganza" group instead. Other welcome items are: ➔ Scans of restaurant matchbooks ➔ Photos of restaurant ashtrays ➔ Scans of placemats or vintage menus. No photographs of restaurants, please. The one exception is if the photograph is one taken by the restaurant for customers, to document their "night on the town", and these must be vintage, pre-'79. This is by no means the complete list. If you're not sure your item fits, post it and we'll see. (If not, we'll remove it... no problem, no hard feelings.) :-) If you would be so kind, please include what the back of the postcard says in your caption. We really want to know what's back there! If there's a hand written message, that's also nice to include, but the main printed caption will do just fine. :-) Please try to comment on the stuff you find in here, but unlike some groups, we'll not hold a gun to your head with "post one, comment on 63.8 other photos, then post another, then comment to Pi, then pat your head and rub your belly..." Just as you're browsing, feel free to comment on what strikes your fancy, makes you laugh, does the place still exist, "I ate there!" or whatever. Note: Please do not swipe scans from Ebay or other postcard sites. These should be your postcard scans. Those posting swiped scans will be ejected by the fry cook, or made to wash dishes. Please visit our other related groups, Howard Johnson's, Holiday Inn and Sleepy Bear is Everywhere and share your vintage HoJo/Holiday Inn/Travelodge postcards or ephemera! Also check out Motel Postcards & Ephemera, Collectible & Vintage Matchbooks, and Postcards. Hope to see you there! Want to invite other postcards to the group? Simply cut-n-paste this into a comment box: ---------------- Please add this to the "Vintage Restaurant Postcards & Ephemera" group. --------------- (Please do NOT use any graphics when inviting to this group. We don't believe in that silly clutter.) Thanks for helping, and welcome to the group. We hope you have fun! :-)

That mosaic is still standing. We saw Heart play on the stage there back in high school... good times!

This landmark restaurant was in Seattle for decades and now it's gone.... ***sniff***.... whores and druggies rubbed shoulders with pro atheletes, millionaires, actors and everything in between...

In this file Floyd Waterson describes the last night of the Dog House, a Seattle restaurant/bar located at 7th Avenue and Bell Street (at 2230 7th Avenue). Run by Laurie Gulbransen (1913-2000) for mo

This was a fantastic place to go. What a perfect mix of "down and outers" up to the stars from the Seattle Opera, who would frequently break into song with Howard at the piano. Howard could make anyone sound good... even me! RIP Sorry Charlie's and RIP Howard...
