    • So, from the land of government over-regulation...

We get a reminder from our kid's preschool today, along with a copy of Michelle Obama's new "food plate," of the school's lunch policy. They state that State Licensing standards require them to require parents to include the following in our 4 year old's lunch: Protein, grain, dairy, 2 fruit and/or vegetables. So I guess tomorrow, I will be sending this with my kid.

I'm going to have to buy him a bigger backpack.

How big of a public fuss can you make? I'd suggest writing to your legislators and then the media. The state is supposed to be watching what THE SCHOOL provides in its lunches, not the parents.

Well, it's a private preschool, so it doesn't have a kitchen and isn't responsible for providing lunch. They do offer a catering service, as most of those other brats are there 5 days a week, 10 hours a day (sometimes I wonder why some people even have kids). So I can see where there would be some concern that the kids are fed enough if they're there all goddamn day. But our kid's only there for a few hours, so I say fuck Michelle's plate.

We might have to start completely and totally not complying though just for fun. After all, his first day I only sent animal crackers and some juice because I didn't know what their deal was for lunch. I'm probably on some watch list now.

But the state mandating what kids should eat in any case (most of the kids there are 1-4 years old), instead of just ensuring that they are eating is ridiculous. Next I'm going to have to make sure there's no salt in the meal. It's already a peanut-sensitive school, just like every other fucking school out there. You know what? It's time for these peanut kids to nut up or shut up. And die. Because this shit's getting out of hand.

          • I think the government should mandate what government entities (read schools) feed kids, especially since they haven't been in the habit of informing parents as to what crap they were putting in the food. And it was crap that we wouldn't knowingly feed our kids. That is where the mandate needs to end. If a kid is allergic to nuts, the kid should know it and not trade for someone's peanut butter sandwich.

            • I think kids should get a dixie cup of tang and a bowl of gruel like I got in catholic school.

What happened to the home schooling?
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

The first one got some time in preschool, so according tho my wife's separate but equal laws for the kids, the second one does too. It's useful for the basics, and he can use the extra work he gets there. Apparently it will also be a good lesson in the state bureaucracy embedding itself into the education system, even non-public schools.

                      That will be their choice.

I'm not too worried about the other 4, but please don't try and be funny with the protein.

How much does your poor social behaviors/fear have to do with you choosing to home school your children? How much does your dislike of working or creating a career for yourself play into your choice for home schooling your children? It is like a band aid, you just have to pull it off because the longer you leave it one the harder it gets to remove.

Just cuz you couldn't hack it is no reason to hate h8r.

And for your information I'm forced out into the throngs of the mentally unwashed far more regularly than if our kids were public school buffoons. I usually feel like Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov though.

That's funny, because Rodya was supposed to be good-looking. I could see Nutz as Razumikhin, if he weren't quite so bitter.
